A leading auto OEM client is looking for a Head-Materials Management and Component Development.


Location-Pune.

Role Purpose

Lead the end-to-end part development lifecycle for ICE engine components, ensuring robust design, supplier readiness, and flawless launch. Drive cost, quality, and delivery excellence through strategic sourcing, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commodity & Part Development

- Define commodity strategy for ICE engine components aligned with business goals.

- Lead part development for critical ICE components (Proprietary , Castings etc ).

- Ensure APQP and PPAP compliance for all new parts and engineering changes.

- Drive prototype build, validation, and sign-off for production readiness.

- PFMEA, PFD, and Control Plan creation for robust processes.

2. Supplier Technical Readiness

- Assess and develop supplier capability for part manufacturing and quality systems.

- Ensure tooling readiness, process audits, and capacity validation at supplier end.

- Drive structured problem-solving (8D, Ishikawa) for supplier issues.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with design, simulation, sourcing, quality, and manufacturing teams for seamless execution.

- Support vehicle integration and compliance with regulatory and performance targets.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Linked to TCP (Time, Cost, Performance)

Time

- Part Development Time (RFQ to SOP)

- APQP Milestone Adherence

- PPAP On-Time Completion

Cost

- Cost Reduction through VA/VE and Localization

- Tooling Cost Control and Optimization

Performance

- Supplier Quality (PPM)

- First Time Right (FTR) in Validation

- Tooling & Process Readiness before SOP

Qualifications & Experience

Education

- Bachelor's in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering (mandatory).

Experience

- 16-20 years in ICE engine part development and supplier management.

- Strong expertise in APQP, PPAP , and manufacturing process control.

- Proven leadership in cross-functional and supplier-facing roles.

Key Competencies

- Deep technical knowledge of ICE engine components and manufacturing processes.

- Strong program management and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Analytical mindset with structured problem-solving capability.

- Ability to lead teams and influence suppliers for quality and cost excellence.
