Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Production Oversight:

- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the manufacturing process to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.

- Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines and cost targets.

- Monitor and optimize production processes, ensuring the highest product quality and minimal downtime.

- Ensure that all production processes comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.

Team Leadership & Development:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors, operators, and other staff.

- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching for performance improvement.

- Ensure adequate training and skill development programs for production staff.

Quality Control & Assurance:

- Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that all products meet specified quality standards and customer requirements.

- Implement corrective actions when deviations from quality standards are observed.

Safety and Compliance:

- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.

- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure that safety training is conducted for all staff.

- Investigate any safety incidents or accidents and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.

Cost Management:

- Monitor and control production costs to maintain efficiency while ensuring product quality.

- Implement measures to reduce waste, optimize energy consumption, and improve operational cost efficiency.

- Ensure the effective use of resources (materials, labor, equipment) to maximize production output while minimizing cost.

Maintenance and Equipment Management:

- Ensure that plant equipment and machinery are well-maintained and operating at peak performance.

- Coordinate with the maintenance department to schedule regular preventive maintenance and unplanned repairs.

- Assess and recommend equipment upgrades or replacements as necessary.

Continuous Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement, automation, and lean manufacturing practices.

- Lead or participate in root cause analysis of production issues and develop corrective action plans.

- Implement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing waste, and improving overall plant performance.

Reporting & Communication:

- Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including key metrics like output, efficiency, downtime, and quality.

- Communicate effectively with senior management, reporting on any critical issues or potential disruptions in the production process.

- Liaise with other departments (logistics, procurement, etc.) to ensure smooth operations across the plant.

Skills:

- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of chemical production processes, plant safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

- Leadership: Proven track record of leading large, diverse teams, and driving change and operational improvements.

- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and interpret operational data and financial reports.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, from front-line employees to executive leadership.
