Role and Responsibilities:
1. Legal Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local and international laws across labor, environmental, trade, agriculture, and tax domains. Oversee regulatory adherence in sugar production, import/export, and health/safety standards.
2. Contracts & Transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with suppliers, buyers, logistics partners, and landowners. Structure joint ventures, sales, and distribution deals.
3. Corporate Governance
- Advise leadership on legal matters and corporate governance. Ensure timely statutory and regulatory filings.
4. Dispute Resolution
- Manage litigation, arbitration, and settlements. Coordinate with external counsel on complex cases.
5. Risk Management
- Identify legal risks and implement mitigation strategies. Support internal legal audits.
6. Land & Environmental Law
- Handle land acquisition and usage compliance. Ensure adherence to environmental laws related to agriculture and manufacturing.
7. Labor & Employment Law
- Oversee employment contracts, labor compliance, and union matters. Resolve workplace and HR-related disputes.
Skills and Qualifications
- LLB or JD; LLM preferred (especially in Corporate Law, Commercial Law, or International Trade).
- 10+ years of experience in legal practice, preferably with 3-5 years in a senior in-house legal role in manufacturing, agribusiness, or FMCG.
- Familiarity with laws related to agriculture, commodities, trade, environmental protection, and corporate governance.
