
The Head of IT Asset Management is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and governance of the organization's IT asset portfolio, ensuring end-to-end lifecycle management of both software and hardware assets. This position requires deep expertise in Software Asset Management (SAM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), regulatory compliance (BFSI RBI and other relevant guidelines), and risk mitigation.
The incumbent will drive asset optimization, cost control, and compliance, leveraging industry-standard IT Asset Management (ITAM) tools to maintain an Effective License Position (ELP) and proactively escalate risks to safeguard the organization's IT ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic IT Asset Governance & Lifecycle Management:
- Define and implement a comprehensive IT asset management strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance, optimization, and decommissioning.
- Establish and enforce policies and best practices to maintain asset integrity, security, and financial accountability.
2. Software Asset Management (SAM) & Compliance:
- Maintain a robust Effective License Position (ELP) across all software vendors, ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance.
- Utilize leading SAM tools (e.g., Flexera, ServiceNow SAM, Snow License Manager, IBM ILMT) for license tracking, optimization, and audit preparedness.
- Lead and manage internal and external software license audits, identifying compliance gaps and driving remediation strategies.
- Establish escalation protocols for license compliance violations, ensuring timely resolution and risk mitigation.
- Manage vendor Managed Service for SAM.
3. Hardware Asset Management (HAM) & Optimization:
- Oversee the entire hardware asset lifecycle, ensuring optimal utilization, cost efficiency, and adherence to organizational security policies.
- Implement HAM tools (e.g., ServiceNow HAM, Ivanti ITAM, BMC Helix) for real-time tracking, maintenance, and disposal planning.
- Develop strategies to extend asset lifecycles, reduce capital expenditures, and optimize IT infrastructure investments.
4. Regulatory & Risk Compliance (BFSI - RBI Standards):
- Ensure full compliance with RBI guidelines and BFSI regulatory requirements related to IT asset management.
- Lead regulatory audits, providing transparent and accurate reporting of IT asset inventories, license entitlements, and usage.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, risk, and security teams to align asset management with industry regulations and internal governance frameworks.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Lead strategic negotiations with software and hardware vendors, ensuring optimal licensing models and cost-effective agreements.
- Partner with procurement, finance, IT security, and operations to drive value-driven IT asset investments.
- Establish strong governance frameworks for vendor risk management, contract adherence, and performance monitoring.
