Job Summary

The Head Inventory is responsible for overseeing end-to-end inventory control and warehouse management across multiple locations, including central (mother) warehouses and 3PL partners. The role ensures inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, compliance, and cost optimization while leading large on-ground teams and collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory Tracking & Control

- Monitor inventory levels daily across all product categories using inventory management systems.

- Identify and proactively address stock issues including shortages, near-expiry items, damages, non-moving SKUs, and excess inventory.

- Ensure real-time inventory visibility and accuracy across all locations.

2. Warehouse Operations Management

- Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.

- Ensure adherence to defined TATs (Turnaround Times) for both B2B and B2C order fulfillment.

- Maintain high standards of space utilization, material flow, and operational discipline.

3. Physical Inventory Audits

- Conduct periodic and surprise stock audits at internal warehouses and 3PL locations.

- Reconcile physical stock with system records and resolve discrepancies within defined timelines.

- Drive cycle count discipline and audit readiness.

4. Cost Optimization

- Analyze inventory movement and storage data to identify cost-reduction opportunities.

- Review, validate, and control monthly warehouse, storage, and handling bills.

- Reduce inventory holding costs, damages, expiries, and write-offs.

5. Data Analysis & Reporting

- Generate and analyze reports on GRN TAT, stock accuracy, replenishment performance, ageing, and non-moving inventory.

- Share actionable insights with stakeholders to support operational and business decisions.

6. Packaging Management

- Plan and release purchase orders for packaging materials in coordination with Procurement.

- Ensure timely availability of packaging materials across all warehouse locations.

- Monitor packaging consumption, stock levels, and ageing.

7. Compliance & Governance

- Ensure compliance with quality standards, inventory policies, and regulatory requirements related to storage, handling, and traceability.

- Drive adherence to SOPs and audit requirements across warehouses and partners.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Inventory Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS platforms (e.g., WMS, Unicommerce, or equivalent).

- Analytical Capability: Strong ability to analyze inventory trends, discrepancies, and performance metrics.

- Supply Chain Knowledge: Deep understanding of FMCG supply chain operations, space utilization, FSN & ABC analysis.

- Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience managing and developing large warehouse teams (4050+ staff).

- Problem Solving: Proactive in resolving inventory, financial, and PO-related issues.

- Communication: Strong coordination skills with Procurement, Finance, Operations, and 3PL partners.

Requirements

- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.

- Proven experience in inventory management within FMCG or consumer-driven environments.

- Strong proficiency in ERP/WMS systems.

- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and leadership skills.

- Familiarity with Lean inventory practices and Just-in-Time (JIT) methodologies is an advantage.
