Description:
Mandatory Requirements:
- Minimum 12-15 years experience in international sales/business development in the fibre/textile/intermediate materials industry, of which 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing export sales.
- Travel readiness: frequent international travel to target markets (Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia) as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Planning:
- Define, articulate and lead the international sales strategy for PSF & PET chips globally across existing geographies (Europe, North & South America, Middle East, Africa, Asia) and new target markets.
- Set annual / multi-year revenue, volume, profitability and marketshare targets for export business; break down by region, product category, customer segment.
- Identify growth opportunities: new geographies, new customers, new applications (e.g., automotive, filtration, hygiene nonwovens), differentiated specialty fibres (micro, optical, dope-dyed black, super high tenacity).
- Monitor global market trends (polyester fibres, raw material dynamics, competitor strategies, trade regulations, tariffs, sustainability standards) and translate into actionable plans.
- Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of P&L, and the ability to correlate financials with production, sales, and operating conditions.
2. Business Development & Customer Acquisition:
- Lead major international customer acquisition efforts: build & manage pipeline, key account engagement, contractual negotiations.
- Cultivate longterm strategic relationships with global textile manufacturers, nonwoven producers, automotive/industrial fibre users, fibrefill/hygiene players.
- Work with marketing & product development to align export product offerings (deniers, cutlengths, specialty fibre types) with customer needs globally & successfully closing large long-term contracts
3. Sales Execution & Performance Management:
- Drive achievement of sales targets: order intake, shipment volumes, export revenues, margins.
- Oversee endtoend export sales cycle: from lead generation, sample evaluation, commercial proposal, negotiation, contract signing, order management, shipment tracking, after-sales service.
- Collaborate with logistics, supply chain, manufacturing planning to ensure timely delivery, quality compliance, cost optimisation, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor regional sales performance, analyse shortfalls, initiate corrective actions, and optimise pricing/terms in light of global raw material costs, FX, trade tariffs.
4. Team Leadership & Crossfunctional Collaboration:
- Build, develop and lead the international sales team (regional managers, key account managers, sales support) including hiring, training, mentoring, performance management.
- Partner with product / R&D teams to develop differentiated products (e.g., micro fibres, optical white, dope dyed black, super high tenacity) targeted for export markets.
- Collaborate with marketing, quality assurance, sustainability/compliance teams to ensure global certifications, standards, export documentation, and customer audits are addressed.
5. Market Intelligence & Reporting:
- Maintain and present periodic reports (monthly/quarterly/annual): export sales performance, order pipeline, competitor activity, market share, margin analysis, risks & opportunities.
- Provide market intelligence insights: emerging export markets, customer trends (e.g., increased use of recycled fibres, sustainable fibre demand), regulatory changes, trade barriers.
6. Sustainability and Compliance:
- Ensure export business aligns with the companys quality, environment, safety and sustainability frameworks (ISO standards, OEKO-Tex).
- Monitor and ensure compliance with international trade laws, export regulations, sanctions, customs, logistics and incoterms
7. Regulatory & Commercial understanding:
- Expertise in export documentation, Incoterms, Letters of Credit (LC), and foreign exchange (Forex) requirements.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations, tariff compliance, and associated implications.
- Strong understanding of Customs, FEMA regulations, and applicable duty structures.
- Proficiency in supply chain management and logistics optimisation
8. Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of PSF trade dynamics, fibre properties, and their end-use applications.
- In-depth knowledge of processing plant operations, including backward and forward integration, along with a clear understanding of input chemical properties.
