JOB PURPOSE:

Provides strategic leadership to global engagement portfolio, positioning the organisation as the premier representative of Indian industry in the international arena.

The role exists to shape international policy, foster global partnerships, and enhance Indias trade and investment opportunities in alignment with national economic priorities.

ENVIRONMENT / BACKDROP:

This position operates in a highly dynamic global business and policy environment.

It requires proactive engagement with governments, multilateral organizations, global industry associations, and Indian businesses to influence international trade and economic policy.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Relevant Experience:

- Masters degree in international relations, Public Policy, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.

- PhD or equivalent international policy exposure preferred.

- A total of 15-20 years of progressive leadership experience in trade, diplomacy, global economic policy, or senior roles in government/industry bodies with extensive international exposure.

Competencies:

Technical (Knowledge, Skills, Attitude):

- Expertise in international trade, investment, and diplomacy.

- Strong policy and advocacy background.

- Broad knowledge of global economic issues.

Generic / Managerial:

- Visionary leadership with deep knowledge of international trade and diplomacy.

- Strong diplomatic, negotiation, influencing, and consensus-building skills.

- Wide international network across governments, industry associations, and multilateral institutions.

- Excellent public speaking and cross-cultural communication skills.

- High credibility, gravitas, and ability to influence global economic policy.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Design and implement organisation's international strategy to enhance Indias global economic influence.

- Build and sustain relationships with foreign governments, multilateral organizations, and global chambers to advance trade and investment opportunities.

- Drive programs for market access, investment facilitation, and international business cooperation to deliver tangible outcomes for Indian industry.

- Ensure global engagements reinforce Indias domestic economic and policy objectives to align with national priorities.

- Develop revenue streams through collaborations, sponsorships, and projects to ensure financial sustainability of international initiatives
