Role Overview.
The Director IT is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the Information Technology and Knowledge Management strategy.
As the head of the Directorate, the incumbent will ensure that cutting-edge digital infrastructure, knowledge systems, and corporate communications are seamlessly integrated to support the Universitys academic, research, and administrative functions.
The position is a full-time, on-campus role.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a technology and knowledge management roadmap aligned with the Universitys vision, mission, and growth objectives.
- Define strategy, set measurable KRAs, and ensure alignment with institutional priorities.
- Contribute to overall University strategy and decision-making as part of the leadership team.
Technology & Digital Transformation:
- Establish and oversee the Directorates of IT, Knowledge Management, and Corporate Communications.
- Design and deploy state-of-the-art IT infrastructure to enable academic, research, and administrative excellence.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives, including ERP implementation, e-governance, and data-driven decision-making.
- Formulate IT policies, processes, and standards in line with global best practices covering data security, network management, and information privacy.
- Ensure system uptime, resilience, and scalability to meet current and future needs.
Knowledge Management & Communications:
- Lead initiatives to capture, share, and manage institutional knowledge for academic and administrative advantage.
- Promote the brand through digital, print, and audio-visual media, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
- Oversee website management to maintain a dynamic, engaging, and compliant online presence.
- Guide the creation of brand collaterals and enforce brand compliance across channels.
- Encourage active stakeholder participation in enhancing the universitys visibility and reputation.
Operational Excellence:
- Build a high-performing, customer-centric IT team with clear metrics and performance review mechanisms.
- Manage budgets, vendor relationships, procurement, and asset management effectively.
- Monitor IT operations daily to ensure high availability, security, and service quality.
- Collaborate with other campuses and units for seamless integration of IT systems and services.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, Management, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant leadership experience, preferably in reputed Universities or Higher Education Institutions.
- Strong knowledge of IT strategy, infrastructure management, network systems, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated ability to lead digital transformation and technology adoption at scale.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate across academic and administrative functions.
- Exposure to global best practices and experience handling large-scale academic environments is highly desirable.
- Preference for candidates from top engineering institutes with international exposure.
