Job description

Position: Head of Industrial Relations / Employee Relations (IR / ER)

Location: Pune

Industry: Automotive OEM

Experience: 15 - 25 years

Education: MSW (Master of Social Work)

Role Overview:

We are working on an Head IR / ER position for a leading OEM automotive client based in Pune.

The role will be responsible for managing end-to-end industrial and employee relations at the plant level, ensuring harmonious relations with workmen, unions, and statutory bodies while aligning with organizational policies and business objectives.

Hiring Criteria:

1) Candidates working in Manufacturing / Plant needs are the relevant fit.

2) Should have done LTS and union handling experience.

3) Excellent track record in handling external stakeholders (Govt / State Govt bodies).

4) Excellent communication skills. (English + Marathi)

5) Candidates from reputed companies which have strong compliance practices.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage complete IR & ER operations at the plant, including union relations and employee engagement.

- Act as the primary liaison with internal stakeholders (Plant Leadership, HR, Legal, Corporate HR) and external stakeholders (Unions, Labour Authorities, Government Bodies).

- Handle collective bargaining, wage negotiations, settlements, and long-term agreements.

- Manage and resolve disciplinary cases, grievances, domestic enquiries, and employee disputes.

- Ensure compliance with labour laws, statutory requirements, and audits.

- Support change management initiatives, workforce restructuring, and productivity improvement programs.

- Maintain cordial industrial relations to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.

Key Requirements:

- 15 to 25 years of relevant experience in IR / ER, preferably in Automotive / Manufacturing OEM environments.

- Strong exposure to unionized manufacturing setups.

- Excellent communication skills in Marathi and English .(mandatory), as the role requires frequent interaction with workmen, unions, and external authorities.

- Proven ability to handle complex stakeholder management and sensitive negotiations.

- Hands-on, grounded approach with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

- MSW-qualified professional with long-term exposure to plant IR.

- Strong local connect and understanding of regional labour dynamics.

- Stable career track within manufacturing / automotive organizations.
