Position Summary: We are seeking an exceptionally talented and visionary Head of Industrial Design to lead our end-to-end design initiatives for a portfolio of cutting-edge consumer electronics products. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced Industrial Product Designer who possesses a profound understanding of aesthetics, ergonomics, functionality, and manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for defining and driving the industrial design vision, ensuring that our products are not only technologically advanced but also visually compelling, user-friendly, and brand-defining. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Design Leadership: - Define and articulate the overall industrial design vision and strategy for our consumer electronics product roadmap, aligning it with company objectives and brand identity. - Lead the entire industrial design process from initial concept ideation, sketching, 2D/3D visualization, to detailed design for manufacturing (DFM). - Translate complex user needs and technological capabilities into intuitive, elegant, and marketable physical product designs. Team Management & Mentorship: - Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of industrial designers, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and design excellence. - Provide expert guidance, constructive feedback, and technical oversight to ensure the highest quality of design output. - Drive best practices in design processes, tools, and methodologies within the team. Concept Generation & Visualization: - Generate a wide range of compelling design concepts, utilizing sketching, rendering, and advanced 3D modeling techniques. - Create highly realistic 3D physical product designs and visualizations for stakeholder reviews and internal presentations. - Develop compelling design narratives that articulate the "why" behind design decisions. Color, Material, Finish (CMF) Expertise: - Lead the selection, specification, and implementation of Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) strategies that enhance product aesthetics, user experience, and brand perception. - Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure CMF choices are feasible, scalable, and cost-effective for mass production. Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Work in close partnership with Product Management, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software), Marketing, and Manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle. - Ensure seamless integration of industrial design with engineering requirements, manufacturing constraints, and supply chain considerations. - Communicate design concepts, iterations, and specifications clearly to all stakeholders. Quality Assurance & Innovation: - Oversee the design process to ensure aesthetic integrity, ergonomic functionality, and adherence to design standards. - Stay abreast of global design trends, emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes in consumer electronics and related industries. - Drive continuous innovation in product form, function, and user interaction. Must-Have Skills & Experience: - 8+ years of extensive professional experience in physical/industrial design, specifically within consumer electronics or consumer durables. - Demonstrated expertise in CMF (Color, Material, Finish) selection and application for mass-produced products. - High proficiency in CAD & 3D modeling software (e. g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, Alias, Creo, Blender, Maya). - Strong portfolio showcasing realistic 3D physical product designs (3D views/renderings mandatory) and a proven track record of successful product launches. - Prior experience working with top-tier consumer tech, automotive, or lifestyle brands. - A keen eye for aesthetics, form, and proportion, coupled with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and materials. - Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to travel frequently (domestic and international) to engage with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and global design teams. Good-to-Have Qualifications: - BSc/MSc degree in Product Design or Industrial Design. - Exposure to specific high-growth sectors such as wearables, mobility solutions, smart devices, or Electric Vehicles (EVs).
