We are working on a confidential mandate with a fast-scaling luxury retail organization headquartered in Hyderabad, operating a strong and profitable business (- 5000 Cr revenue) with an aggressive domestic and global expansion roadmap.
The organization currently operates 50+ stores across South India and international markets (including the US) and is in a critical phase of transformation with:This is a high-impact, front-line CHRO role in a promoter-driven setup where people strategy will directly influence business scalability & store productivity.
Job Description
The organization is at an inflection point-while strong processes exist (including systems like ADP payroll), execution rigor, workforce productivity, and HR visibility require significant strengthening.
Key challenges include:
- High attrition across frontline workforce, with competitive pull from peers
- Need to stabilize HR leadership
- Strengthen employer brand and internal HR credibility
- Drive alignment within a promoter-led, high-velocity decision-making environment
- The incoming CHRO will be expected to bring structure, discipline, and retail-led HR excellence, while operating with strong business alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Workforce Strategy & Retail Productivity
- Rebalance org structure toward sales-heavy workforce (70:30 model)
- Drive frontline hiring scale-up across stores and geographies
- Build store productivity, performance management, and incentive frameworks
2. Attrition & Talent Stability
- Design and execute retention strategies for high-churn frontline roles
- Benchmark against competition and improve employee value proposition (EVP)
3. HR Operations & Execution Excellence
- Strengthen execution rigor on existing HR processes and systems
- Bring discipline in areas like payroll governance, compliance, and HR ops delivery
- Ensure scalability for IPO-readiness and multi-geo operations
4. Employer Branding & HR Visibility
- Significantly improve HR visibility internally and externally
- Build a strong employer brand in competitive luxury retail talent markets
5. Leadership & Culture Alignment
- Act as a strong cultural anchor in a promoter-driven business
- Enable leadership alignment and stability after multiple HR leadership transitions
- Drive a performance-oriented yet culturally aligned organization
6. Expansion Enablement
- Partner business on rapid store rollouts across South India and US markets
- Build scalable frameworks for franchise and COCO models
The Successful Applicant
A successful CHRO should have:
Must-Have:
- 15+ years of experience in retail-heavy organizations
- Background in structured, process-driven environments
- Proven track record in scaling frontline-heavy organizations
- Strong exposure to multi-location retail operations and high-volume hiring
Critical Success Factors:
- Ability to operate in a promoter-driven, fast-paced environment
- Strong focus on execution over design
- Demonstrated success in reducing attrition and improving field productivity
- High stakeholder management and influence with founders/promoters
Additional Preferences:
- Experience in luxury / premium retail
- Strong understanding of South India talent landscape
- Telugu language capability is strongly preferred
