Job Description - Head Human Resources (FMCG Retail).

Position: Head - Human Resources.

Industry: FMCG Retail.

Reporting to: CEO / Managing Director.

Role Overview :

- The Head - Human Resources will lead the overall HR function for a fast-growing FMCG Retail organization, driving people strategy aligned with business goals.

- This role requires deep understanding of retail operations, frontline workforce management, and high-volume hiring, along with strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities :

HR Strategy & Leadership :

- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business expansion and retail growth plans.

- Act as a strategic HR partner to senior leadership and business heads.

- Build a high-performance, customer-centric, and compliance-driven organization culture.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning :

- Lead end-to-end recruitment for corporate, warehouse, supply chain, and retail store roles.

- Manage bulk and frontline hiring for stores, sales, and operations.

- Drive manpower planning in line with store expansion and sales growth.

Performance Management & Capability Building :

- Design and manage performance management systems for corporate and retail teams.

- Implement training and development programs for leadership, sales, and store staff.

- Drive succession planning and leadership pipeline development.

Compensation, Benefits & Rewards :

- Design competitive compensation and incentive structures for retail and sales roles.

- Manage payroll, statutory benefits, incentives, and performance-linked rewards.

- Benchmark compensation practices with FMCG and retail industry standards.

Employee Relations & Engagement :

- Manage employee relations across corporate offices, warehouses, and retail outlets.

- Drive employee engagement initiatives to reduce attrition and improve productivity.

- Handle grievance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.

HR Operations & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with labor laws, retail statutory requirements, and audits.

- Oversee HR operations including onboarding, exits, HRMS, and employee records.

- Manage vendor partners for payroll, staffing, and training.

Mandatory Requirements :

- FMCG Retail experience is mandatory.

- Proven experience managing large frontline and store workforce.

- Strong knowledge of labor laws applicable to retail and FMCG operations.

Qualifications & Experience :

- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent qualification.

- 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5-7 years in a senior HR leadership role.

- Prior experience in FMCG, Retail, or Consumer Goods organizations is essential.

Key Competencies :

- Strong business partnering and leadership skills.

- Expertise in retail HR, bulk hiring, and employee engagement.

- Hands-on, execution-driven approach with strategic mindset.
