Job Description:

The Head HR Operations will lead the complete HR operations function for a large-scale steel manufacturing facility, ensuring effective manpower management, employee relations, statutory compliance, HR processes, workforce productivity, and alignment of people practices with business objectives.

The role requires strong experience in large manufacturing - steel operations, with the ability to manage a significant blue-collar and white-collar workforce, multiple stakeholders, contractors, unions, and plant leadership.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

MSW/ MBA(HR)/ PG IN HR with experience in large manufacturing industry, HR operations, manpower planning, ER/PR, modern HR practices, systems, good communication skills, computer skills, and an age limit of 50.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Head HR Operations to lead the complete HR function for a large-scale steel manufacturing facility. The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end plant HR operations, workforce and manpower management, employee and industrial relations, statutory compliance, talent development, workforce productivity, and implementation of modern HR practices.

The role requires strong experience in managing large blue-collar and white-collar workforces, contractors, unions, and multiple internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent will partner closely with plant leadership to ensure effective people management and alignment of HR strategy with operational and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plant HR - HR Operations:

- Lead the end-to-end HR operations for the manufacturing plant, ensuring effective implementation of HR policies, processes, systems, and practices.

- Act as the strategic HR partner to the Plant Head and business leadership, aligning people initiatives with production, productivity, cost, and business objectives.

- Drive effective HR governance across employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, transfers, promotions, performance management, employee engagement, grievances, disciplinary actions, and separation.

- Ensure consistent implementation of corporate HR policies and processes at the plant level.

2. Workforce - Manpower Management:

- Lead manpower planning and workforce optimization in line with production plans, capacity requirements, and business growth.

- Manage large-scale blue-collar, white-collar, contract, temporary, and outsourced workforce requirements.

- Monitor workforce productivity, absenteeism, overtime, manpower cost, deployment, and utilization.

- Partner with operations to identify opportunities for workforce rationalization, productivity improvement, and manpower cost optimization.

- Strengthen contractor management processes and ensure compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.

3. Employee - Industrial Relations:

- Lead Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR) across the plant, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

- Manage relationships with unions, worker representatives, contractors, and other employee groups.

- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, domestic enquiries, negotiations, and conflict-resolution processes.

- Develop proactive strategies for industrial harmony, employee engagement, and prevention of workforce disruptions.

- Support collective bargaining, settlements, and negotiations with unions and employee representatives as required.

4. Labour Law - Statutory Compliance:

- Ensure end-to-end compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory regulations, employment legislation, and factory-related requirements.

- Ensure timely and accurate compliance related to wages, working hours, benefits, social security, contract labour, employee welfare, and statutory registers/returns.
