
HEAD HR - HR OPERATIONS, COMPLIANCE & GOVERNANCE

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced Head HR to lead the organization's HR function with strong expertise in End-to-End HR Operations, Labour Laws, Statutory Compliance, HR Audits, Wages & Payroll, Employee Relations, Retention, Attrition Management, HR Governance and Team Management.
The role requires a senior HR leader who can work closely with Founders, CEO, CXOs and senior leadership to establish robust HR processes, strengthen governance and build a high-performance employee environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HR OPERATIONS & GOVERNANCE
- Lead End-to-End HR Operations and complete employee lifecycle management.
- Develop and implement HR policies, SOPs, processes and governance frameworks.
- Ensure effective HR service delivery, documentation and process standardization.
- Drive HR process improvement, automation and technology adoption.
LABOUR LAWS & COMPLIANCE
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian Labour Laws and statutory regulations.
- Manage compliance related to PF, ESIC, PT, Gratuity, Bonus, Minimum Wages, Payment of Wages, Shops & Establishments and other applicable regulations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation.
- Coordinate with statutory authorities, consultants and legal advisors as required.
HR AUDIT & RISK MANAGEMENT
- Lead HR audits, compliance reviews and statutory inspections.
- Identify compliance gaps and drive timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain appropriate HR documentation and compliance records.
WAGES, PAYROLL & COMPENSATION
- Oversee wages, payroll coordination, salary administration and statutory deductions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable wage structures and statutory requirements.
- Partner with Finance and Payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely salary processing.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS, RETENTION & ATTRITION
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters and workplace issues.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve employee retention and reduce avoidable attrition.
- Analyse attrition trends, exit feedback and employee concerns to identify key retention drivers.
- Drive Employee Engagement, Employee Experience and Retention initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders and managers to address employee concerns and improve workforce stability.
LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Lead, mentor and develop the HR team.
- Establish clear KRAs, performance expectations and accountability.
- Partner with CEO, CXOs and senior leadership on people strategy and organizational matters.
- Provide strategic HR insights and recommendations to senior management.
EMPLOYER BRANDING
- Drive Employer Branding and Employee Value Proposition initiatives.
- Strengthen employee experience, organizational culture and internal communication.
HR MIS & ANALYTICS
- Establish HR MIS, dashboards and people metrics for management reporting.
- Track key metrics including Attrition, Retention, Employee Engagement, Absenteeism and HR Operations KPIs.
- Use HR data and analytics to support business and people-related decision-making.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- 17+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in senior HR leadership roles.
- Strong hands-on experience in HR Operations, Labour Laws, Statutory Compliance and HR Audits.
- Strong understanding of Wages, Payroll and Compensation & Benefits.
- Proven experience in Employee Relations, Retention and Attrition Management.
- Strong experience in HR Governance and Team Management.
- Strong knowledge of Indian Labour Laws and employment regulations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to independently lead the HR function and work closely with senior leadership.
PREFERRED PROFILE
- Candidates from IT, Technology, Software or IT Services organizations will be preferred.
- Stable career history with consistent tenure across previous organizations is preferred, considering the senior leadership nature of the role.
- Prior experience working closely with Founders, CEOs, CXOs and senior leadership will be an advantage.
- Proven experience in building, managing and leading HR teams.
- Experience in a fast-growing or transformation-driven organization will be an added advantage.
EDUCATION
MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent qualification preferred.
