Location: Head Office - Mumbai
Role Overview:
A large, multi- site manufacturing group is seeking a senior leader to head its global logistics and distribution function. The primary focus is on building and executing strategies for compliance, efficiency, cost- effectiveness, and sustainability across an international supply chain. The leader will report to the global supply chain executive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety, GDP/GMP, and International Trade Compliance regulations across logistics and distribution activities.
- Develop and execute global strategies for logistics, distribution, warehousing, and transportation in line with business needs and market expansion requirements.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting for the function, track expenditures, analyze variances, and ensure financial control.
- Define, track, and improve logistics KPIs including On- Time Delivery In Full (OTDIF), Days on Hand (DOH), transportation cost, and inventory accuracy.
- Negotiate and manage vendor relationships (including 3PL/4PL providers, transporters, technology partners).
- Conduct freight benchmarking and achieve optimal rates and service levels globally.
- Plan, optimize, and oversee global distribution networks and multimodal transportation.
- Lead customs clearance, compliance with global trade regulations, and manage last- mile delivery.
- Supervise, coach, and develop logistics and warehouse teams, ensuring standardized processes and ongoing capability building.
- Drive continual cost improvements, digital transformation, and sustainability initiatives including carbon footprint reduction and automation (using ERP, WMS, TMS, IoT, RPA, and AI tools).
- Facilitate cross- functional collaboration with procurement, operations, IT, and finance.
Required Experience & Skills:
15- 20 years' experience in end- to- end logistics and distribution, with significant global exposure and direct leadership responsibility.
Deep knowledge of international trade, logistics operations, supply chain process optimization, and regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated history of implementing large- scale change and digital transformation projects within logistics.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and data- driven decision- making ability.
Proven experience managing complex vendor ecosystems and global teams.
Advanced proficiency with modern logistic systems (ERP/SAP, WMS, TMS, and related technologies).
Education: MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline.
