Job Description - Operations Head (Shrimp Processing Unit):
We are seeking an experienced Operations Head to manage and optimize end-to-end operations of our Shrimp Processing Unit. The role demands strong expertise in production planning, quality compliance, manpower management, and cost control while ensuring timely delivery and adherence to international food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Plant Operations:
- Lead day-to-day operations of shrimp processing including raw material intake, processing, freezing, packing, cold storage, and dispatch.
- Ensure optimal capacity utilization and production efficiency as per sales plans.
- Monitor yields, recovery ratios, wastage, and processing losses.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure strict compliance with HACCP, BRC, BAP, ASC, EU, USFDA, and customer-specific standards.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain zero-rejection standards.
Manpower & Shift Management:
- Plan and manage manpower deployment including permanent staff and contract labor.
- Control overtime, absenteeism, and productivity norms.
- Ensure discipline, safety, and hygiene practices across the plant.
Cost Control & Efficiency:
- Monitor conversion cost, utilities (power, water, ice, diesel), packaging, and consumables.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost per kg.
- Support finance team with operational data for cost analysis.
Planning & Coordination:
- Coordinate with Procurement, Sales, Export Documentation, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Align production plans with export schedules and customer commitments.
Maintenance & Infrastructure:
- Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of machinery and utilities.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for plant uptime and capacity enhancement projects.
Health, Safety & Environment:
- Ensure compliance with statutory norms related to labor laws, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Drive workplace safety initiatives and accident-free operations.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Experience:
- 15-25 years of experience in Shrimp Processing / Seafood Processing Plants.
- Minimum 5+ years in a senior operations leadership role (Operations Head / Factory Manager / Plant Head).
Education:
- BSc / MSc Fisheries, Marine Biology, or Food Technology
- MBA / Operations Management added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of shrimp processing technology and international compliance.
- Excellent planning, execution, and people management skills.
- Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving ability.
Language Skills:
- Telugu, Hindi, and English preferred
