Role Summary:
The Head Export Sales will own and drive the company's international sales strategy end-to-end from market identification and channel development to key account management, pricing, and export operations coordination. This is a senior leadership mandate for a professional who has built and led export sales functions in a structured, reputed organisation, and is ready to bring that rigour to a growing, promoter-led business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the export sales P&L define and deliver annual volume, revenue and margin targets across international markets.
- Identify, prioritise and develop new geographies and buyer segments (distributors, importers, retail chains, institutional buyers) for rice exports.
- Build and manage relationships with overseas distributors, trading houses, and key accounts; lead contract and pricing negotiations.
- Develop and execute a structured go-to-market and channel strategy for each priority market/region.
- Coordinate closely with production, quality and logistics teams to ensure export commitments are met on cost, quality and timelines.
- Track and ensure compliance with export documentation, INCOTERMS, letters of credit, and country-specific import regulations.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends and global commodity movements to inform sales and pricing strategy.
- Build, mentor and lead an export sales team as the function scales.
- Represent the company at international trade fairs, buyer meets and industry forums.
- Provide regular MIS, forecasts and market intelligence to the leadership team.
Candidate Profile:
- 15+ years of overall sales experience, with a strong, demonstrable track record in export/international sales ideally in rice, agri-commodities, food, or FMCG exports.
- Currently or most recently with a reputed, professionally run company with structured export operations.
- Proven experience managing distributor and institutional relationships across multiple international geographies (Middle East, Africa, Europe, or similar export corridors preferred).
- Strong understanding of export documentation, trade finance (LC/DA/DP), and international logistics.
- Comfortable working in a promoter-driven, hands-on environment while bringing process and structure to the function.
- Excellent negotiation, relationship-management and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively for international business development.
Education:
Graduate/Postgraduate in Business Administration, International Trade, Commerce, or a related field preferred.
