Head - Estimation (BIM, Digital Construction & Digital Twin)

Locations: Durgapur, Madurai, Jaipur, or Flexible (Open) Travel-

Role Overview:

The Head - Estimation is a strategic commercial leadership position responsible for leading the end-to-end estimation and proposal function for global BIM, digital construction, and digital twin projects. Reporting with direct access to senior leadership, this executive holds defined decision authority on pricing sign-offs, margin thresholds, and bid/no-bid recommendations. The role focuses heavily on governance, commercial risk mitigation, and driving digital enablement (AI, automation, data analytics) to safeguard margin realization post-award.

Key Roles & Responsibility:

- Estimation Strategy & Commercial Leadership: Lead global proposal strategies, maximize pricing leverage, maintain competitiveness, and participate in direct client negotiations to support high-value deal closures.

- Decision Authority & Bid Governance: Enforce organization-wide estimation standards, cost models, and workflows. Exercise defined authority over pricing ranges and escalate margin-sensitive or high-risk bids to senior leadership.

- Margin Accountability & Post-Award Tracking: Own accountability for bid margins against approved benchmarks and rigorously track post-award margin variances against actual delivery performance.

- Technology & Digital Enablement: Drive the adoption of AI-enabled estimation tools, automation, and digital pricing models while leveraging historical productivity analytics to optimize turnaround times.

- Risk & Contractual Alignment: Partner with the Contracts Manager to identify and mitigate contractual, liquidated damages (LD) exposure, and delivery risks during pre-bid stages across various contract types.

- Team Leadership & Scale: Mentors, structures, and scales a high-performing, multi-location team of estimators, quantity surveyors, and commercial analysts.

- Core Competencies: Commercial acumen, deal-structuring, cost modeling, risk management, contract analysis, and executive negotiation.

Skill & Expertise:

- Domain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of BIM-led delivery models (Preferrable), digital twin solutions, cost drivers, and international pricing mechanisms.

- Tech-Driven Skillsets: High digital maturity with exposure to automation, AI-enabled estimation tools, and historical data analytics platforms.

- Soft Skills: Exceptional stakeholder management, ability to thrive under aggressive timelines, and cross-functional leadership.

Eligibility:

- Experience: 15-20 years of experience in estimation, pre-contract, or commercial roles specifically within BIM, engineering, or digital construction environments.

- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, or a relevant discipline. An MBA or Post-Graduation in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying is preferred.

- Compensation Budget: As per company standards, highly commensurate with experience.

Operation Scale:

- Candidates must have a background managing global, multi-region bidding pipelines (Americas, Europe, APAC, Middle East).

- Experience scaling and running multi-location estimation teams (15+ estimators/analysts) supporting large-scale, high-velocity commercial proposals simultaneously.

Regional Mind-set & Language Nuance:

- The Hub vs. Remote Blend: While the role offers flexibility, the core execution nodes sit in the mentioned hubs. The ideal candidate must possess a hybrid mindset-capable of driving governance across Tier-2/Tier-3 infrastructure delivery hubs while matching the corporate cadence of global sales teams.

- Contractual & Regional Nuance: The candidate must understand the linguistic and structural differences in contractual language globally (e.g., US legal frameworks vs. UK/Middle East FIDIC contracts), ensuring local estimators interpret international client requirements flawlessly.

Core Candidate Persona:

The ideal candidate is a "Digital Commercial Architect." This individual is far more than a traditional construction estimator or quantity surveyor. They are an analytically rigorous commercial leader who views estimation as a technology-driven science. They understand exactly how many hours it takes to model a complex MEP grid or build a digital twin, and they use data-driven algorithms, historical benchmarks, and strict governance to ensure the company never underbids or leaks margin post-award.
