Position: Head of Engineering

Location: Gurgaon

The Role

As the Head of Engineering, you will be the cornerstone of our technology organization. You will own the entire technology stack, from strategic vision to hands-on execution. This is a player-coach role where you will lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers while being deeply involved in system design and critical technical decisions. You will collaborate directly with the founders, product, business, and compliance teams to translate business objectives into robust, scalable, and secure technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Strategy:

- Define and drive the long-term technology roadmap aligned with business goals.

- Champion best practices in software architecture, development, and DevOps.

System Architecture & Scalability:

- Design, build, and maintain ultra-low-latency, high-availability trading platforms and backend systems capable of handling surging user volumes and transaction loads.

- Ensure system resilience and fault tolerance.

Team Building & Management:

- Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team.

- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

Product Delivery:

- Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle.

- Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of features and platform enhancements, balancing speed with technical rigor.

Security & Compliance:

- Make security and regulatory compliance (SEBI, exchange guidelines, data privacy) a non-negotiable priority.

- Implement robust security protocols and ensure all systems meet stringent financial industry standards.

Infrastructure & DevOps:

- Lead cloud infrastructure strategy (AWS/Azure/GCP), optimizing for performance, cost, and reliability.

- Implement advanced CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting systems.

Stakeholder Management:

- Act as the primary technical voice to internal and external stakeholders.

- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Experience: 10+ years of software development experience with at least 4+ years in a leadership role (Engineering Manager, Director, or Head of Engineering) within a fintech, brokerage, trading platform, or a high-stakes B2C product environment.

Technical Expertise:

- Proven experience in building and scaling distributed, real-time systems.

- Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and APIs.

- Strong proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js) and modern frameworks.

- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.

- Familiarity with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and caching technologies crucial for high-performance applications.

- Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of financial markets, trading lifecycle, risk management, and regulatory requirements in the Indian context is a significant advantage.

- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build, inspire, and scale engineering teams. Excellent people management and project management skills.
