The Head - Engineering, Projects & Maintenance will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the Engineering, Maintenance, Utilities, Projects and Infrastructure functions of the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

The role will be responsible for ensuring high plant reliability, equipment availability, uninterrupted utilities, effective maintenance, successful execution of capital projects and compliance with applicable GMP, regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.

The incumbent will lead the planning and execution of engineering projects, plant expansions, facility modifications, equipment installation, commissioning and qualification activities while ensuring adherence to approved budgets, timelines, quality standards and safety requirements.

The position will work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, EHS, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance and external consultants/contractors to ensure efficient and compliant plant operations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities - Head Engineering & Maintenance:

Engineering & Maintenance:

- Provide overall leadership for Engineering and Maintenance operations.

- Develop and implement annual maintenance and engineering plans aligned with production requirements.

- Ensure maximum availability, reliability and efficiency of plant equipment and critical systems.

- Lead preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance programs.

- Analyze equipment failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

- Ensure timely maintenance of production equipment, facilities and infrastructure.

- Optimize maintenance costs, manpower deployment and critical spare-parts inventory.

- Establish and maintain engineering standards, procedures and best practices.

Projects:

- Prepare and monitor project budgets, timelines, technical specifications and resource requirements.

- Coordinate with consultants, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Ensure projects are completed within approved cost, quality and timelines.

- Review technical proposals, equipment specifications, layouts and engineering drawings.

- Lead installation, commissioning, qualification and operational handover of new facilities and equipment.

Utilities & Infrastructure:

- Ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of critical pharmaceutical utilities.

- Manage HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressed air, electrical systems, DG systems, water systems, purified water/WFI, ETP/STP and related infrastructure.

- Monitor utility performance, reliability and energy consumption.

GMP & Regulatory Compliance:

- Ensure engineering and maintenance activities comply with applicable GMP, WHO-GMP, USFDA, EU-GMP, Schedule M and other regulatory requirements.

- Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.

- Support regulatory inspections, customer audits and internal audits.

- Ensure timely closure of engineering-related audit observations.

- Coordinate with QA on deviations, CAPA, change controls and quality-risk assessments.

- Ensure all engineering changes are properly evaluated, documented, approved and implemented.

Qualification:

- BE/B.TECH/MBA

- Experience: 15 - 20 Years
