The Group is now aggressively expanding into high-growth sectors including Coal Mining, Ropeway Projects, and Renewable Energy, with a dedicated focus on BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems). The BESS Division is a new strategic vertical under our client's Group, aligned with the companys long-term clean energy and technology roadmap.

Role Overview:

The Head - Engineering & Technology (BESS Division) will lead the engineering, design, technology evaluation, and execution strategy for the group's BESS initiatives. The role requires deep technical expertise in renewable energy systems, hands-on experience in designing and implementing BESS projects, and strong leadership capabilities. The position involves working closely with the Managing Director to drive technical excellence, project performance, and innovation across the division.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Technical Leadership:

- Lead the complete engineering scope for utility-scale and industrial BESS projects.

- Develop system design architecture including sizing, configuration, integration, and control strategy.

- Evaluate and select suitable technologies, OEMs, and partners (battery, inverter, EMS, PCS, SCADA, etc.).

- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety codes, and performance criteria.

Project Execution & Technical Oversight:

- Provide engineering oversight across project lifecyclefrom feasibility, design, procurement, installation, commissioning to performance monitoring.

- Review technical documents, drawings, project specifications, and method statements.

- Support project teams in site planning, risk analysis, and troubleshooting of technical issues.

Technology Development & Innovation:

- Stay updated on global advancements in BESS technologies, chemistries, thermal management, software, and safety protocols.

- Develop internal technical guidelines, best practices, engineering templates, and digital tools.

- Evaluate new solutions and innovations that enhance system reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance.

Vendor, OEM & Stakeholder Management:

- Work with global and domestic battery suppliers, inverter manufacturers, EPC partners, and consultants.

- Lead technical negotiations, techno-commercial evaluations, and vendor qualification.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teamsprocurement, finance, planning, and projects.

Strategic Leadership & Reporting:

- Support the MD in BESS division strategy, planning, resource development, and technology roadmap.

- Lead internal engineering teams and build necessary capabilities.

- Provide technical reports, design summaries, risk assessments, and project updates to senior management.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Energy/Power Systems).

- Masters degree in energy systems, power systems, or related field is a plus.

- 12-15 years of experience in renewable energy, with at least 5+ years in BESS projects (utility-scale or C&I).

- Strong expertise in BESS system engineering, controls, safety, and integration with renewable energy and grid systems.

- Experience in designing, evaluating, or delivering large-scale energy storage projects.

- Exposure to EPC environments, techno-commercial evaluations, and project execution.
