Business Unit: EPS Automotive Electronics.
Role: Head of Engineering.
The Head of Engineering will lead the engineering organization responsible for the design, development, validation, and launch of ADAS and Electrification products.
This role combines strategic leadership with deep technical know-how to drive innovation & product development, deliver the programs/project on time with quality at right cost, maintaining compliance with automotive standards and customer collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Strategy:
- Define and execute the overall engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with market, business and customer requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software, systems, validation, manufacturing engineering, etc.
- Translate OEM technical specifications into feasible, cost-effective & innovative engineering solutions.
- Drive process standardization and continuous improvement across all engineering activities.
- Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Support new business development through technical proposals, cost estimation, and feasibility studies (e.g , electrification, ADAS, connectivity etc.
- Develop and manage engineering budgets, resources, and timelines.
- Manage IP strategy, patents, and technical documentation.
Product Development & Program Execution:
- Oversee complete product lifecycle from concept, design, prototyping, validation, and PPAP to production launch.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, cost, and timing (QCT) targets with First Time Right.
- Interface with OEM customers for technical discussions, design approvals, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and cost optimization.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and certifications: ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ASPICE, and OEM-specific requirements.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives using structured tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and root cause analysis.
Team Development & Leadership:
- Build and develop a high-performance engineering organization with clear roles and competencies.
- Mentor engineers and managers, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture.
- Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and capability development.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Science Engineering.
Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in automotive engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position within a Tier-1 supplier/OEM.
- Proven experience managing customer programs for major OEMs.
- Strong background in product development processes, prototype build, validation, and industrialization.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent program management and problem-solving ability.
- Business acumen with understanding of cost, margin, and customer value.
