The Head of E-Commerce will be responsible for owning and scaling the digital commerce strategy, operations, and performance across all online sales channels. This includes the companys own e-commerce platform, third-party marketplaces, and B2B ordering portals. The role demands a strategic yet hands-on leader with experience in building digital P&Ls, driving traffic, increasing conversions, and delivering superior customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
E-Commerce Strategy & Growth
- Develop and implement the end-to-end e-commerce strategy aligned with the overall business and brand goals.
- Own the online P&L drive revenue, margin, cost control, and profitability targets.
- Identify and launch new digital sales opportunities across geographies, channels, and customer segments.
Platform Management
- Lead the management and continuous improvement of the companys e-commerce website (UX/UI, functionality, merchandising, and personalization).
- Ensure platform stability, mobile responsiveness, and seamless integration with inventory, CRM, and ERP systems.
- Oversee catalog management, pricing accuracy, payment gateways, and site performance analytics.
Marketplace & Partner Channels
- Manage partnerships and performance on third-party platforms (Amazon, Flipkart, Indiamart, etc.).
- Optimize presence, listing quality, campaign ROI, and customer service metrics across marketplaces.
- Explore new partnerships, B2B e-procurement portals, and D2C initiatives.
Digital Marketing & Conversion
- Work closely with digital marketing teams to drive qualified traffic via SEO, SEM, email, social media, influencer marketing, and retargeting.
- Own customer funnel metrics (CTR, bounce, add-to-cart, conversion, CAC, LTV).
- Deploy A/B testing, CRO tools, and analytics to improve customer journeys and maximize conversion rates.
Operations & Fulfillment
- Coordinate with supply chain, warehousing, and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective order fulfillment.
- Implement scalable last-mile solutions and reverse logistics processes.
- Monitor key KPIs including order cycle time, fill rates, return ratios, and customer feedback.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Build and lead a cross-functional e-commerce team covering digital marketing, platform ops, analytics, and customer service.
- Collaborate with IT, finance, legal, product, and CX teams to enable smooth business operations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, consumer behaviors, and digital commerce innovations.
Candidate Profile
Must-Have:
- 10-15 years of experience in e-commerce, digital sales, or online retail, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience scaling e-commerce revenue through direct platforms and marketplaces.
- Strong analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Preferred:
- Experience in hardware, manufacturing, home improvement, or consumer durables industries.
- Exposure to B2B e-commerce or distributor/dealer e-portals.
- Understanding of D2C growth levers and subscription/e-commerce tech stacks.
Education
- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, or related field (mandatory)
- MBA or specialization in Digital Marketing, E-Commerce Management, or Strategy (preferred)
