Job Title: Head of Tax / Tax Director
Location: Head Office & Manufacturing Facility - Sriperumbudur
Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Role Purpose:
The Head of Tax will be responsible for leading the organizations tax strategy, compliance, litigation, and advisory functions. The role will ensure robust statutory compliance, effective tax planning, risk mitigation, and alignment of tax practices with overall business objectives in a dynamic regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Strategy, Planning & Optimization:
- Develop and implement tax-efficient structures to support business growth, mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and expansion initiatives.
- Advise senior leadership, including the CEO, CFO, and Board, on the tax implications of strategic business decisions, capital structuring, and corporate transactions.
- Lead Transfer Pricing (TP) governance for cross-border and inter-company transactions, ensuring compliance with Indian regulations and OECD BEPS requirements, including preparation and filing of Master File and Local File documentation.
- Continuously monitor changes in tax legislation (Income Tax, GST, Transfer Pricing, etc.) and evaluate their business impact.
2. Direct Taxation:
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with Corporate Income Tax (CIT) requirements, including tax computations, return filings, advance tax calculations, and assessments.
- Oversee transfer pricing documentation, benchmarking studies, and tax audits in coordination with statutory auditors.
- Manage tax provisioning, deferred tax computations, and disclosures in accordance with Ind AS requirements.
- Ensure effective systems and controls for deduction and deposit of TDS/TCS across all applicable transactions.
- Represent the organization before tax authorities, appellate forums, tribunals, and external consultants.
3. Litigation & Risk Management:
- Lead management of tax disputes, litigation matters, notices, and assessments relating to direct taxation.
- Identify potential tax risks and implement strong internal controls, SOPs, and governance mechanisms to mitigate exposure.
- Manage and coordinate responses during tax assessments, inquiries, appeals, and litigation proceedings with Indian tax authorities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is mandatory. Additional qualifications such as LLB or Masters in Finance/Taxation will be an advantage.
- 12-18+ years of progressive experience in corporate taxation, including at least 35 years in a leadership role within large corporates, MNCs, or Big 4 firms.
- Hands-on experience in handling tax assessments, litigation, and senior-level tax advisory matters.
- Strong technical expertise in Direct Taxation, International Taxation (DTAA, BEPS/Pillar Two), and Transfer Pricing.
- Exceptional analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex tax matters effectively to senior non-finance stakeholders.
