Job Description:

Role:

Lead the end-to-end Design & Engineering function for Utility-Scale Solar, Rooftop Solar, BESS, Wind and Hybrid Renewable Energy EPC projects from concept and feasibility through detailed engineering, IFC, construction support, commissioning and as-built handover.

Ensure designs are technically robust, safe, compliant, constructible, cost-effective and aligned with project schedules and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering & Design Leadership:

- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, SCADA, Protection, BESS and Wind.

- Establish design standards, processes, review gates, templates and approval workflows.

- Drive end-to-end engineering delivery: Concept, Basic Engineering, Detailed Engineering, IFC, Construction Support, Commissioning, As-Built.

- Ensure alignment with project schedules, procurement strategy, construction methodology and budgets.

2. Technical Leadership:

- Lead design and engineering for Solar PV, BESS, Wind, Hybrid projects, EHV systems and grid connectivity.

- Review key technical aspects including PV layouts, energy yield, BESS sizing and architecture, hybrid configurations, substations, protection systems and power evacuation.

- Ensure compliance with IS, IEC, IEEE, CEA, BIS, NFPA, Grid Codes and customer specifications.

- Coordinate with OEMs, utilities, consultants and customers on technical approvals and integration.

3. Design Quality, Optimisation & Compliance:

- Establish robust design review, verification and approval systems.

- Minimise design errors, site rework, NCRs and engineering-related delays.

- Drive CAPEX optimisation, value engineering, standardisation and lifecycle cost improvements.

- Ensure designs balance performance, energy yield, safety, constructability, reliability and cost.

4. Procurement & Project Support:

- Support technical specifications, BOQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings and technical negotiations.

- Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.

- Resolve RFIs, TQs, NCRs and site technical issues within agreed timelines.

- Manage design changes and ensure smooth handover from Engineering through Commissioning.

5. Team & Business Leadership:

- Build, lead and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary Design & Engineering team.

- Define KPIs, roles, accountability and technical capability development.

- Support Pre-Sales and Business Development with technical solutions and feasibility.

Key Deliverables:

- On-time Basic, Detailed Engineering and IFC releases.

- Minimum design errors, rework and NCRs.

- Optimised CAPEX through value engineering.

- Timely grid, statutory and customer approvals.

- Effective Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning handover.

- Successful commissioning and as-built documentation.

- Improved design standardisation, productivity and engineering TAT.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

- 15-20+ years of experience in Renewable Energy, EPC or Power Infrastructure.

- Strong hands-on and leadership experience in Utility-Scale Solar EPC.

- Strong expertise in EHV systems, substations, power evacuation and grid connectivity.

- Good experience in BESS, Solar + BESS and Hybrid Renewable Energy projects.

- Experience in Wind EPC / Wind-Solar Hybrid projects preferred.

- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.

- Strong understanding of EPC execution, constructability, procurement, value engineering and technical risk management.

- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.

- Working knowledge of PVSyst, AutoCAD, ETAP/Power Factory, PVcase/Helioscope, STAAD or similar engineering tools preferred.

Ideal Candidate:

- A strategic, hands-on engineering leader capable of independently owning the complete Design & Engineering function for Solar + BESS + Wind/Hybrid EPC projects, while balancing technical performance, safety, energy yield, constructability, timelines and CAPEX.

- Priority will be given to candidates with proven end-to-end experience across Utility-Scale Solar, BESS, EHV Infrastructure and Wind/Hybrid projects, with a strong track record of leading multidisciplinary teams on large EPC projects.
