Job Description :
Position : Head Design.
Location : Mumbai (with extensive travel to site locations in India).
Reporting : VP of Operations.
Position Overview :
As the Head of Design, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and leading the design department of our firm.
You will be responsible for managing a team of architects, BIM specialists, Quantity Survey, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineers.
Your primary objective will be to ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative, and sustainable design solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership :
i. Develop and implement the overall design strategy in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
ii. Provide visionary leadership to inspire and motivate the design team towards achieving excellence in design.
Team Management :
i. Lead, mentor, and empower a multidisciplinary team of architects, BIM specialists, Quantity Survey, and MEP engineers.
ii. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and professional growth.
iii. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Project Management :
i. Oversee the design process from concept development to project completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
ii. Coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
iii. Monitor project progress and address any design-related issues or challenges that may arise.
Design Excellence :
i. Set design standards and guidelines to maintain consistency and quality across all projects.
ii. Review and approve design concepts, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and client expectations.
iii. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in architecture, BIM, Quantity Survey, and MEP engineering.
Quality Assurance :
i. Establish and implement quality assurance processes to ensure that design deliverables meet the highest standards of excellence and accuracy.
ii. Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Value Engineering :
i. focus on cost reduction and process improvement.
Key Requirements :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional licensure or certification preferred.
- Overall experience of 15 years + out of which at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role within the architecture or real estate industry, with a strong focus on design management.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in architectural design, BIM technology, Quantity Survey, and MEP engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of design professionals towards achieving common goals.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
- Commitment to sustainability, innovation, and continuous improvement in design practices.
