Head - D2C (Founder/Growth Leader Preferred)

We are a rapidly scaling retail brand looking for a visionary Head of D2C to architect, lead, and accelerate our direct-to-consumer business. This role is designed for proven buildersleaders who have either founded a startup or driven exponential growth in high-velocity D2C/e-commerce environments. The ideal candidate combines entrepreneurial grit with strategic clarity and deep operational expertise.
About the Role:
The Head of D2C will be responsible for shaping the brands digital commerce engine across traffic, acquisition, retention, merchandising, technology, customer experience, and overall profitability. This leader will build the full D2C ecosystem, institutionalise scalable processes, and drive aggressive month-on-month growth while ensuring long-term sustainability.
You will work directly with the founders and leadership team, owning end-to-end responsibility for D2C strategy, execution, team building, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Ownership:
- Take complete ownership of the D2C P&L, ensuring revenue growth, profitability, and efficient unit economics.
- Define and execute quarterly and annual growth roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
- Lead demand forecasting, budgeting, planning cycles, and OKR frameworks.
2. Growth, Acquisition & Retention:
- Lead full-funnel performance marketing across channels (Meta, Google, influencer, affiliate, SEO/SEM, marketplaces for traffic building).
- Optimise CAC, LTV, ROAS, contribution margins, and retention KPIs.
- Oversee CRM, automation, lifecycle marketing, and cohort-based interventions.
- Build scalable retention engines (repeat programs, loyalty, referral, subscription models if relevant).
3. Product, Tech & User Experience:
- Drive website/app experience improvements including UI/UX, conversion rate optimisation, page speed, funnel health, and A/B testing.
- Work with product and tech teams to prioritise features, build roadmaps, and improve conversion and retention metrics.
- Ensure seamless customer journeys from discovery to delivery.
4. Category Management & Merchandising:
- Lead assortment planning, pricing, discount strategy, inventory allocation, and go-to-market strategy for new launches.
- Collaborate with category, supply chain, and merchandising teams for demand planning and inventory efficiency.
- Identify new growth opportunities through product innovation, category expansion, or demand pockets.
5. Team Leadership:
- Build, scale, and mentor a high-performance D2C team across growth, performance marketing, CRM, product, creative, and operations.
- Establish strong performance standards, workflows, and review mechanisms.
- Create a culture of experimentation, speed, and accountability.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with founders, category heads, finance, supply chain, operations, brand, and creative teams to unlock growth synergies.
- Align tactical execution with brand strategy and long-term business goals.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- MBA from Tier-1 institutions (IIM, ISB, FMS, XLRI, or equivalent).
- Strong experience in retail, D2C, or consumer brands.
- Prior experience founding a startup or leading growth in a fast-scaling environment is mandatory.
- Deep understanding of e-commerce metrics, digital performance levers, funnel optimisation, and consumer psychology.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and execution capabilities.
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous, entrepreneurial environments.
