Job Description:

Job Title: Head - Cross Border Sales

Cross-Border Trade & Investment Flows

Grade: VP2/ SVP1

Department: Transaction Banking

Location: Mumbai

CTC: 65 to 80 lacs

This pan-India role is responsible for driving new business specifically linked to GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) flows - leveraging Emirates NBD's regional network, client relationships, and correspondent banking capabilities across the UAE and wider GCC/MENAT markets. The incumbent will build origination, structuring, and delivery capability for GCC-linked trade and investment business, working closely with the India transaction banking sales team, GCC-based ENBD relationship teams, credit, treasury, and trade operations.

Position Responsibilities:

GCC Investment Flows - ODI & FDI:

- Identify and develop business opportunities linked to Outward Direct Investment (ODI) - Indian corporates investing into the GCC region.

- Identify and develop business opportunities linked to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) - GCC investors, sovereign funds, and corporates investing into India.

- Build banking relationships with Indian conglomerates and GCC-based investors/family offices active in bilateral investment flows.

- Work with ENBD's GCC coverage teams to create a joint origination pipeline for ODI/FDI-linked banking mandates (accounts, trade, treasury, advisory referrals).

India - GCC Trade Corridor - Top Imports & Exports:

- Map and prioritize India's top import categories from GCC (crude oil, petrochemicals, fertilizers, aluminium) and top export categories to GCC (engineering goods, textiles, gems & jewellery, agri products, pharma).

- Build a target client list of importers/exporters active in these corridors and drive new-to-bank acquisition and wallet share growth.

- Develop corridor-specific trade finance and remittance solutions (LC, collections, factoring, supply chain finance) tailored to GCC counterparties.

- Track corridor-level trade volumes, market share, and identify white-space opportunities by product and geography within India.

Structured Trade Finance:

- Originate and structure complex/structured trade finance transactions for large corporates and mid-market clients trading with the GCC region.

- Design structured solutions spanning receivables financing, borrowing-base facilities, commodity-linked structures, and multi-bank/syndicated trade structures where relevant.

- Partner with credit and product teams to structure deals that balance client needs with the bank's risk appetite.

- Work with ENBD's structured trade and commodity finance desks (where applicable) to co-structure larger cross-border transactions.

Crude Oil & Jewellery Ecosystem (GCC-Linked):

- Build a dedicated coverage plan for the crude oil and petroleum products ecosystem - refiners, oil marketing companies, traders - with GCC-origin flows.

- Build a dedicated coverage plan for the gems & jewellery ecosystem, particularly bullion, diamond, and jewellery trade flows linked to Dubai/UAE hubs.

- Structure trade and treasury solutions suited to these ecosystems (e.g., letters of credit for bullion/crude, hedging referrals, structured payables/receivables financing).

- Ensure appropriate risk, compliance, and sanctions-screening rigor given the sensitivity of commodity and bullion-linked trade flows.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Act as the primary link between India transaction banking sales and Emirates NBD's GCC network for cross-border business origination.

- Provide regular market intelligence on India - GCC trade/investment trends to shape product and pricing strategy.

- Represent the bank at India - GCC trade forums, bilateral chambers of commerce, and industry events to build the pipeline and brand visibility.

- Ensure all cross-border transactions comply with FEMA, RBI trade guidelines, UAE Central Bank requirements (where applicable), and sanctions/AML screening norms.

- Build and lead a small specialist team over time as the GCC corridor business scales.

Qualifications and Experience Requirement:

Qualifications:

Essential:

- MBA / PGDM from a recognized institute; CAIIB or trade finance certification (CDCS) an advantage.

- Fluency in English essential; working knowledge of Arabic or exposure to GCC business culture is a strong plus.

Experience:

Essential:

- 18 - 20 years of overall banking experience, with significant exposure to trade finance and cross-border/correspondent banking.

- Must have worked in the GCC region, or in an India-based role with a demonstrated track record of managing GCC/MENA-linked trade or investment flows.

- Prior experience with UAE/GCC banks, Indian bank GCC desks, or global banks' MENA trade corridor teams strongly preferred (e.g., Emirates NBD, ADCB, Mashreq, DBS, HSBC, Standard Chartered, or Indian banks' Dubai/GIFT City desks).

- Direct experience in structured trade finance and, ideally, exposure to commodity trade finance (crude, bullion, or gems & jewellery).

- Track record of originating and closing large-ticket cross-border trade or investment-linked banking mandates.

Skill:

Attribute:

Functional:

- Deep understanding of India - GCC trade flows, key commodities, and bilateral investment patterns (ODI/FDI).

- Strong grasp of structured trade finance instruments and commodity-linked financing structures.

- Familiarity with FEMA, RBI trade/ODI-FDI regulations, and UAE/GCC banking and sanctions frameworks.

- Strong relationship-building skills across geographies - comfortable operating with GCC-based counterparties and time zones.

- Ability to work in a matrixed structure, coordinating between India sales teams and an overseas parent's regional network.

Behavioural:

- Excellent communication skills

- Sound analytical and interpersonal skills

- Team player
