Role Overview

- We are seeking an experienced and strategic Credit Head to lead the credit function for a Delhi-based NBFC. The role will be responsible for driving robust credit underwriting standards, managing portfolio quality, and ensuring sustainable business growth.

- The ideal candidate must have prior experience working with NBFCs and a strong background in SME, Agri, and Supply Chain financing. Exposure to agri/commodity finance will be an added advantage. This position requires a balance of risk management expertise and business understanding to support scalable and prudent lending operations.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Strategy & Policy

1. Develop, implement, and continuously refine credit policies, underwriting frameworks, and risk assessment models aligned with business objectives.

2. Ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory guidelines applicable to NBFCs.

Credit Underwriting & Appraisal

1. Oversee end-to-end credit appraisal across SME, agri, and supply chain lending segments.

2. Evaluate borrower financials, cash flows, creditworthiness, and collateral structures.

Portfolio Risk Management

1. Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signals, and implement corrective actions.

2. Drive portfolio quality, asset classification, and provisioning standards.

Team Leadership

1. Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing credit team across geographies and product lines.

2. Establish performance metrics and ensure continuous capability development.

Credit Control & Collections

1. Oversee collections, delinquency management, and recovery strategies.

2. Work closely with legal teams on resolution and recovery of stressed assets.

Business Collaboration

1. Partner with business and product teams to design credit structures that balance growth and risk.

2. Enable faster decision-making while maintaining underwriting discipline.

Risk Reporting & Governance

1. Present portfolio insights, risk dashboards, and key metrics to senior management and board committees.

2. Ensure strong governance and audit compliance across credit processes.

Preferred Experience

1. Mandatory experience working with NBFCs in a senior credit role.

2. Exposure to SME lending, Agri finance, and Supply Chain finance (preferred).

3. Experience in agri/commodity finance is a plus.

4. Proven track record of managing large and diverse credit portfolios.

Required Skillset

1. Deep understanding of credit risk management, underwriting, and portfolio monitoring.

2. Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial statement analysis and cash flow-based lending.

3. Experience in designing and implementing credit policies and risk frameworks.

4. Hands-on experience in collections, recovery, and NPA management.

5. Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

6. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

7. Ability to operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Educational Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

2. MBA / CA / CFA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
