Head - Credit - NBFC

We are hiring a Head of Credit for a fast-growing, well-funded NBFC focused on lending to underserved segments. This is a leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, with full ownership of credit strategy, underwriting, and portfolio quality.

Role Overview :

The incumbent will lead the credit function end-to-end-driving underwriting excellence, building scalable processes, and ensuring strong portfolio performance while enabling high business growth.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define and drive credit underwriting strategy, policies, and risk frameworks

- Build and lead a high-performing credit underwriting team

- Balance growth and risk through data-driven decision making

- Monitor and manage portfolio quality, delinquencies, and risk thresholds

- Ensure strong turnaround times (TAT) and operational efficiency

- Oversee secured lending processes, including legal and collateral evaluation

- Leverage technology, analytics, and alternate data for credit decisions

- Collaborate with senior leadership, audit, and board-level credit committees

Ideal Candidate Profile :

- 15+ years of experience in credit/risk roles within BFSI/NBFCs

- Strong exposure to SME lending / Loan Against Property (LAP) / secured assets

- Proven experience in building and scaling credit teams

- Expertise in handling non-documented or informal income segments

- Strong understanding of portfolio analytics and risk management

- Tech-savvy with exposure to digital underwriting / analytics tools

- Experience working across multiple geographies in India
