
Description:
Role Objective:
To lead and institutionalize a world-class safety culture across MSW and Waste-to-Energy businesses by driving Safety Transformation, Risk Leadership Integration (RLI), and behavior-based safety systems, aligned with NEBOSH, DuPont Safety Principles, and global best practicesensuring zero harm, regulatory compliance, and sustainable operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Transformation & Culture Building:
- Design and implement a group-wide Safety Transformation Roadmap for MSW & WtE operations.
- Embed DuPont Safety Philosophy (Zero Harm, Safety as a Value, Line Ownership).
- Drive Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), leadership safety walkdowns, and safety ownership at all levels.
- Lead RLI (Risk Leadership Integration) initiatives to shift safety from compliance to leadership accountability.
2. Corporate Safety Governance:
- Establish and maintain corporate safety governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Standardize safety systems across:
- MSW collection & transportation (C&T)
- Transfer stations
- WtE plants
- RDF, Composting, CBG, IWPF facilities
- Chair Corporate Safety Review Committees and present dashboards to CEO/Board.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Audits:
- Ensure full compliance with:
- Factory Act, Boilers Act
- PESO, CEA, SPCB norms
- Electricity Rules, Fire & Explosives Safety
- Lead statutory, internal, and third-party safety audits.
- Close audit observations through structured CAPA programs.
4. Risk Management & Incident Prevention:
- Lead HIRA, JSA, HAZOP, QRA across all projects and operations.
- Develop and track leading & lagging safety indicators.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and near misses.
- Implement learnings across all sites.
5. Training, Capability Building & Certification:
Design corporate safety training architecture:
- Leadership safety programs
- Supervisor safety certification
- Contractor safety management
- Ensure continuous upskilling aligned to NEBOSH, OSHA, and international standards.
- Build internal safety champions and safety coaches.
6. Contractor & Partner Safety Management:
- Establish robust Contractor Safety Management Systems (CSMS).
- Enforce safety compliance for EPC contractors, O&M partners, and vendors.
- Integrate safety KPIs into contracts and performance reviews.
7. Digital Safety & Reporting:
Drive adoption of digital safety tools for:
- Incident reporting
- Safety observations
- Permit-to-Work (PTW)
- PPE compliance
- Develop CEO-ready safety dashboards and predictive analytics.
8. Crisis & Emergency Management:
- Develop and test Emergency Response & Disaster Management Plans.
- Lead mock drills for fire, explosion, boiler failure, chemical incidents, and electrical hazards.
- Act as corporate escalation point during major incidents.

Qualifications & Certifications:
Mandatory:
- Engineering Degree (Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical / Environmental)
- NEBOSH IGC / NEBOSH Diploma
- RLI (Risk Leadership Integration) certification or hands-on experience
Preferred / Added Advantage:
- DuPont Safety Transformation exposure or certification
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor
- OSHA / IOSH certification
