The position is with Life Insurance Company and they are looking for Head of Corporate Communications.
Business Title:Head of Corporate Communications
Reports To: Chief Marketing & Customer Officer (CMCO).
Role Summary:
The Head of Corporate Communication is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping, protecting, and amplifying the corporate narrative of company. This position owns the full spectrum of communications from media relations and public affairs to executive communications and crisis management at a defining moment in the organization's formation and market entry. Reporting to the Chief Marketing & Customer Officer and working closely with the CEO, leadership team, and Board, the incumbent will serve as the primary architect of the organization's external and internal reputation. In the India insurance market, where consumer trust and regulatory credibility are foundational to business success, this role plays a critical part in establishing the organization as a credible, responsible, and admired institution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Corporate Communications Strategy:
- Design and own the corporate communications strategy aligned to the organization's business objectives, brand positioning, and stakeholder priorities.
- Build the communications function from the ground up, including team structure, agency partnerships, governance frameworks, and editorial calendars.
- Develop a differentiated narrative for the organization that resonates with customers, intermediaries, regulators, investors, and talent.
- Establish annual communications plans with measurable outcomes tied to business milestones, market events, and regulatory timelines.
2. Media Relations:
- Build and manage a proactive media relations program with key journalists, editors, and publications across business, financial, insurance, and digital media.
- Develop and maintain relationships with national and regional media to ensure consistent, favourable coverage of the organization.
- Serve as a senior spokesperson and media-facing representative for the organization on key business announcements and issues.
- Govern media inquiry management processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and on-brand responses across all communication channels.
3. Executive Communications:
- Develop and execute the communications platform for the CEO and senior leadership team, including speeches, op-eds, keynotes, media briefings, and stakeholder presentations.
- Build the thought leadership profiles of key executives across industry forums, publications, and digital platforms.
- Ensure executive messaging is consistently aligned to corporate narrative, brand values, and regulatory sensitivities.
4. Internal Communications:
- Design and implement an internal communications strategy that keeps employees informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational priorities during a critical growth phase.
- Develop a communications rhythm including all-hands events, leadership messaging, newsletters, and internal campaigns.
- Serve as the communications partner to HR and People leadership for cultural initiatives, change management, and employee engagement programs.
5. Crisis Communication & Reputation Management:
- Design and maintain a crisis communications playbook, including escalation protocols, spokesperson preparation, and scenario-based response plans.
- Lead crisis communication responses across regulatory, operational, media, and reputational scenarios with speed, accuracy, and composure.
- Monitor the organization's reputation landscape proactively across media, social, regulatory, and peer benchmarks and advise leadership on emerging risks.
6. Thought Leadership & Content:
- Build a systematic thought leadership platform that positions the organization as a credible voice on insurance, financial inclusion, and customer empowerment in India.
- Govern the development of white papers, industry reports, editorial content, and expert commentary for publication across relevant platforms.
- Represent the organization at industry events, forums, and regulatory consultations to enhance institutional profile.
7. Stakeholder & Regulatory Communication:
- Support investor and Board communication through structured briefing materials, periodic updates, and narrative frameworks.
- Coordinate with the legal, compliance, and regulatory affairs teams to develop communication strategies for IRDAI engagements and disclosures.
- Build engagement plans for key external stakeholders industry bodies, government, and ecosystem partners.
8. Risk, Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure all external communications comply with IRDAI regulations, SEBI guidelines (if applicable), and applicable laws governing listed entities and financial institutions.
- Establish pre-publication review and approval frameworks to mitigate legal and regulatory exposure.
- Manage sensitive information governance, including embargoes, blackout periods, and material non-public information protocols.
9. Agency & Partner Management:
- Build and manage a PR and communications agency ecosystem.
- Govern agency performance through structured SOWs, KPIs, and reviews aligned to communications objectives.
