Head - Community - D2C Business
Description:
Discord-native community builder:
- This person must have hands-on experience building and scaling Discord communities, not just moderating them.
- They should understand server architecture, channel design, bots, roles, permissions, and how to create a community that people actively want to participate in.
- If their only experience is Telegram or Slack, it is not the same skill set.
Drops and hype mechanics:
- Should understand how to design product drops that create anticipation waitlists, early access, limited releases, countdown mechanics.
- Every product launch should feel like an event inside Discord.
- This person needs to know how to build hype and sustain it, not just announce things.
Daily engagement obsession:
- Community dies without daily attention.
- This person should have experience creating community rituals daily prompts, weekly challenges, monthly leaderboards, creator spotlights, interactive content like polls and contests.
- They need to understand what makes people come back to a Discord server every day versus joining and never opening it again.
Creator empathy and relationship building:
- Our community is made up of creators who sell our products.
- This person needs to understand what creators care about recognition, earning potential, insider access, feeling valued.
- They should be able to make a creator with 10K followers feel as important as a creator with 1M followers.
- Community management here is relationship management.
Growth mindset with quality control:
- Scaling from 2,000 to 10,000+ members is the goal, but growth without engagement is worthless.
- This person needs to design referral programs, coordinate acquisition across email, paid ads, and organic channels, and create viral loops while maintaining the quality of the community as it grows.
- Masterclass and live event execution. Should be comfortable running live sessions coordinating content, managing the live experience, and ensuring the session drives a clear outcome (creator sign-ups, increased posting, product education).
- This is part education, part entertainment, part conversion.
Offline activation capability:
- While this person will be India-based, they need to be able to design and manage offline ambassador programs and creator events in US cities.
- This means building playbooks, hiring and managing US-based junior coordinators for field execution, and running events remotely with a high standard of quality.
Comfortable working US hours:
- The community is US-based. Masterclasses are live.
- Discord engagement needs to happen when creators are active.
- This person must be fully comfortable working evening and night shifts IST to align with US time zones.
Scrappy and independent:
- This is a build-from-scratch role.
- There is no existing playbook, no large team, and no big budget.
- This person needs to be resourceful, move fast, and figure things out without waiting for direction.
- They should be energized by building something from zero, not intimidated by it.
