Role Objective: To lead and manage the end-to-end Collection & Transportation (C&T) operations for municipal solid waste across multiple zones/cities, ensuring route efficiency, fleet optimization, regulatory compliance, service quality, and cost-effective execution with high workforce discipline and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operational Leadership - C&T - Lead daily C&T operations across multiple cities/zones covering door-to-door collection, primary & secondary transfers, transit stations, and landfill/processing point logistics. - Ensure optimum utilization of fleets (compact vehicles, tippers, hook loaders, compactor trucks, etc.). - Implement route planning, GPS tracking, fuel efficiency monitoring, and vehicle maintenance schedules. 2. Performance Governance & Cost Optimization - Establish measurable KPIs: collection coverage %, route completion, fuel consumption, fleet uptime, breakdown rate, attendance & manpower deployment. - Drive cost reduction through route optimization, vehicle utilization improvement, and preventive maintenance. - Lead central command & control monitoring dashboards. 3. Workforce & Team Management - Lead and supervise Project Managers, Route Supervisors, Drivers, Helpers, Contractors and Vendor workforce. - Ensure adherence to shift plans, attendance control, discipline, and field execution. - Implement continuous training on safety, PPE usage, hygiene, and customer interaction. 4. Stakeholder & Municipal Coordination - Act as primary operational interface with Municipal Corporations, Concession Authorities, Ward/Zone Commissioners and Urban Local Body officers. - Participate in daily/weekly field reviews, escalation handling, and performance reporting. - Ensure timely documentation, MIS reporting, and complaint redressal. 5. Compliance, Safety & Environmental Standards - Ensure compliance with Solid Waste Management Rules (2016) and municipal contract obligations. - Ensure driver & helper safety, vehicle safety checks, waste handling guidelines, and route supervision standards. - Coordinate with Environmental, Safety & HR teams for compliance audits and corrective actions. 6. Vendor, Transporter & Contractor Management - Manage outsourced fleet operators and manpower contractors. - Monitor contract adherence, billing validation, dispute resolution, performance penalties and incentive frameworks. Candidate Profile Requirements: Requirement Details - Experience 12-20+ years in C&T operations / Transport logistics / Urban services / Municipal waste operations - Scale Exposure Experience managing large fleet operations (200+ vehicles) & large workforce (500-3000+) - Education Degree: B.E / B.Tech (Mechanical / Civil / Industrial / Automobile preferred). MBA desirable. - Skills : Fleet & route planning, manpower management, municipal stakeholder engagement, operational MIS & cost control - Attributes : Hands-on leader, field-oriented, discipline-focused, high problem-solving ability, strong communication
