Role Overview:

As the Head of Claims - Reinsurance, you will spearhead the end-to-end claims management strategy, ensuring operational excellence and financial integrity for our reinsurance portfolio. You will act as the primary bridge between internal underwriting teams, global cedants, and external stakeholders, driving a culture of efficiency and transparency. Your leadership will be pivotal in optimizing claim settlement cycles, mitigating technical risks, and enhancing the overall customer experience by delivering seamless, high-quality service during critical claim events. By balancing rigorous technical oversight with a client-centric approach, you will directly influence the companys loss ratios and long-term market reputation in the Mumbai insurance ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

- Direct the entire claims lifecycle, from initial notification to final settlement, to ensure compliance with treaty terms and internal governance standards.

- Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to analyze loss trends and provide actionable insights that improve risk selection and pricing accuracy.

- Manage complex claim negotiations with global brokers and cedants to protect the companys financial interests while maintaining strong professional relationships.

- Oversee the implementation of digital transformation initiatives within the claims department to reduce turnaround times and improve data accuracy for stakeholders.

- Mentor and lead a high-performing team of claims professionals, fostering a culture of technical expertise, accountability, and superior service delivery.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated mastery in managing high-value reinsurance claims across diverse lines of business, backed by 12 to 25 years of progressive experience in the insurance sector.

- Proven ability to interpret complex legal contracts and treaty wordings, ensuring precise application of coverage and liability limits.

- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and navigate sensitive negotiations with international partners.

- Strong analytical mindset to translate technical claims data into strategic business intelligence that supports organizational growth.

- Advanced academic background in Insurance, Finance, or Law, complemented by professional certifications such as ACII or equivalent industry designations.

- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, on-site work environment in Mumbai, demonstrating agility in decision-making and a commitment to operational excellence.
