Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Category Head to lead and scale our gourmet / specialty / lifestyle-food categories across online and offline retail. The ideal candidate will have deep experience managing similar categories (premium grocery, artisanal foods, curated lifestyle foods, gourmet products) and will take full ownership of category strategy from range planning and sourcing, to P&L, growth, and cross-functional execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop long-term category vision and growth roadmap; identify, scale and optimise priority sub-categories.
- Source, onboard and manage supplier/brand partnerships ensuring quality, margins, availability and compliance.
- Own category P&L set revenue/margin targets, track performance and drive profitability.
- Lead SKU planning, assortment curation, inventory turns, merchandising and stock health.
- Drive GTM execution with Marketing, Retail, E-com & Ops across launches, campaigns & assortments.
- Leverage market insights, competitor benchmarks & sales analytics to refine pricing, mixes and strategy.
- Build and lead a high-performing category team with strong processes, structure and capability.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- 8-12+ years in category management/buying/merchandising, ideally in gourmet, specialty or premium food retail.
- Demonstrated ownership of full category lifecycle sourcing, assortment, P&L, scaling & vendor management.
- Strong commercial & negotiation skills with clear understanding of pricing, margins & supplier contracts.
- Data-led decision-maker with experience in forecasting, sales analysis & demand planning.
- Skilled in cross-functional leadership, stakeholder management & team development.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setup with high ownership and evolving processes.
- Deep interest in food, quality products, consumer taste trends & premium lifestyle categories.
