Head of Business Development (GM) - Water Treatment Solutions
Driving growth by strategizing sales, identifying new markets (industrial, municipal), building key partnerships (OEMs, EPCs), managing client relationships, and overseeing technical/commercial proposals for water/wastewater solutions (ETP, STP, Reuse, Recycle), requiring strong technical acumen, leadership, market analysis, and sales execution to hit targets and expand client base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales & business development strategies, identify new opportunities, expand into new markets, and set pricing/promotional plans.
- Lead sales teams, build/maintain strong customer (industrial, municipal), partner (OEMs, EPCs), and stakeholder relationships, manage key accounts, and drive order closure.
- Act as a subject matter expert, provide technical support, help scope projects (Reuse/Recycle), build ROI models, and present optimal solutions.
- Monitor trends, analyze competitor activity, forecast sales, and report insights to senior management.
- Oversee proposal management, contract negotiation, CRM usage, expense control, and ensure adherence to collection/credit policies.
- Work closely with current and prospective customers to understand business needs and develop customer specific value propositions to drive business acquisition.
- Role requires a self-directed, results-oriented professional with technical aptitude, strong consultative sales skills and experience to qualify customer needs and develop sales opportunities to increase product sales and profitability.
- Develop relationships with adjacent stakeholders including state and local environmental officials, engineering firms and industry experts.
- Use available industry resources to identify potential opportunities for new business based on local and regional environmental regulatory changes.
- Work with the technical team to develop case studies, technical papers and presentations for water treatment market conferences.
- Develop and achieve business growth and profit objectives to support our 5-year plan to achieve market share targets.
- Work with channel partners as appropriate to achieve growth and profit objectives by reaching potential customers that are not directly selling.
Qualification And Experience:
1. BE with Experience of 15+ years And Proven track record in water/wastewater sales, project development, and business leadership.
2. Deep knowledge of water treatment processes (STP, ETP, Reuse, Recycle), chemicals, and technologies.
3. Leadership, negotiation, communication, strategic thinking, relationship building, results-driven focus.
4. Proven expertise in developing new business and achieving profitable growth for a new product requiring a technical/consultative sales approach.
5. Experience developing business proposals that highlight a compelling value proposition to the key decision maker.
6. Prior experience demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task.
7. Willingness for extensive travel as required.
8. Excellent communication skills to work with customers, management team, professional organizations and government entities.
