Our client is India's leading law firm, renowned for its exceptional legal expertise and strategic counsel across diverse sectors. The firm advises top corporations, financial institutions, investors, and government bodies on their most complex and high-value matters. This role provides a unique opportunity to directly influence the firm's growth trajectory, strengthen market presence, and work closely with senior partners.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a senior-level Business Development Leader cum Strategy person who can independently drive client acquisition, open new relationships, originate business opportunities, and shape sector-level BD strategy in partnership with the clients senior leadership.

This is a pure Business Development role-ideal for candidates who have a successful track record of external client-facing BD, relationship building, pursuit management, and revenue generation in a professional services environment (Big 4, consulting, law firms, risk advisory, ratings, or research firms).

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Client Acquisition

- Originate new business opportunities across sectors and client groups.

- Build and strengthen senior relationships with GCs, CFOs, CEOs, investment leaders, promoters, and boards.

- Drive BD outreach, networking, and external engagement activities.

- Identify white spaces, opportunity areas, and target clients for partner practices.

2. Partner Collaboration & Strategic Account Growth

- Work closely with Partners to develop BD plans, client strategies, and relationship roadmaps.

- Support and lead key pitches, proposals, RFP responses, and client conversations.

- Drive cross-practice BD initiatives and grow existing key accounts.

3. Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership

- Develop sector insights, market trends, and intelligence packs that inform BD strategy.

- Create thought leadership, newsletters, and content that enhances the firm's market visibility.

- Represent the client at industry forums, sector events, and client roundtables.

4. Firm Growth & Positioning

- Enhance the firms visibility in strategic sectors and client communities.

- Build external networks and partnerships that strengthen business inflow.

- Support partners with market positioning, reputation building, and client narratives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Must-Have:

- 25-30 years in Business Development, Strategic Client Growth, Client & Markets, Key Account Management or Pursuits in professional services

Prior experience in:

- Big 4 BD/Markets

- Consulting BD

- Law firm BD

- Risk advisory / Ratings (Crisil/ICRA/Kroll)

- Research & Advisory BD (Gartner/Forrester/Evalueserve)

- Strong external client-facing experience

- Deep relationships across CXO/GC communities

- Ability to originate business independently

- Executive presence; comfort working with senior partners

Good to Have:

- Experience contributing to thought leadership

- Sector knowledge: BFSI, Infra, Energy, TMT, Industrials

- Experience leading BD teams
