Role Overview
The Head - Business Development (B2B) will lead the growth strategy and P&L of the organization's B2B food division. This is a strategic, high-impact leadership role responsible for driving sales, expanding market presence, and building strong relationships across international B2B clients. The ideal candidate will combine business acumen with a deep understanding of contract manufacturing, private label dynamics, and global trade, steering the division toward its next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Strategy
- Own and deliver the P&L for the B2B food division.
- Identify new business opportunities, markets, and partnerships to expand the export footprint.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Drive new client acquisition with global brands, retailers, and startups across international markets.
- Strengthen long-term relationships with existing clients through consistent engagement, service excellence, and category innovation.
- Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry events to build visibility and secure business leads.
Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with manufacturing, R&D, and supply chain teams to ensure product quality, timely delivery, and client satisfaction.
- Partner with finance and leadership teams on pricing, cost optimization, and profitability management.
- Oversee a team of 3-4 members (including one direct report) to drive performance and execution excellence.
Market Development & Category Expansion
- Lead category development initiatives, exploring allied products and new innovations.
- Stay updated on market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer needs to inform strategy.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 8-10 years of experience in B2B business development, preferably within FMCG, food, or consumer products (e.g., packaged foods, condiments, spreads, tea, etc.).
- Experience in private label or contract manufacturing, with exposure to international clients and export markets.
- Demonstrated P&L ownership and proven ability to scale business operations independently.
- Strong understanding of global trade dynamics, export documentation, and cross-border business management.
- Entrepreneurial, self-driven, and hands-on approach; comfortable operating in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively for client engagement and business development.
