Our client is a recognized innovator, with a proven product and a fiercely loyal client base. Having solidified their market fit, they are now poised for a transformative phase of accelerated, strategic growth. To lead this charge, they are seeking a Head of Business Development & Strategic Growth: a player-coach who is as formidable at closing complex deals as they are at architecting the sales machine that will scale our market dominance.
This is not a role for a caretaker. This is for a builder, a hunter, and a strategic visionary who will own the entire commercial front and be the direct architect of our market expansion.
Your Mission:
To catapult our client's market presence and revenue by building, leading, and executing a world-class business development strategy. You will be directly responsible for hunting and closing major enterprise deals while simultaneously designing and scaling a repeatable sales process that fuels our next chapter of hyper-growth. You will be the face of our growth to the market and a key strategic partner to the executive team.
Key Responsibilities:
a) Strategic Hunting & Deal Execution:
- Personally lead from the front in identifying, pursuing, and closing high-value, complex strategic deals and partnerships.
- Navigate lengthy enterprise sales cycles with sophistication, building relationships with C-level executives and key decision-makers.
- Own the full sales lifecycle from prospecting and qualification to negotiation and contract closure.
b) Revenue Growth & Market Penetration:
- Develop and execute a aggressive yet realistic growth plan to exceed revenue targets.
- Identify and prioritize new market segments, verticals, and geographic opportunities for expansion.
- Convert our innovative technology/service into tangible business value for new clients.
c) Sales Architecture & Process Scaling:
- Build and refine our sales process, methodology, and KPIs from the ground up, instilling a culture of discipline and excellence.
- Implement and manage our CRM (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) to ensure rigorous pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and data-driven decision making.
- Develop compelling sales enablement tools, battle cards, and presentations that empower the entire commercial team.
d) Leadership & Team Building:
- Initially a player-coach role, with a clear mandate to recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing business development team as we scale.
- Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture that aligns with our core values of ambition, integrity, and client-centricity.
Who You Are:
- A proven hunter with a verifiable track record of consistently exceeding multi-million dollar sales quotas in a B2B environment.
- You possess a "founder's mindset"-you are strategic, resourceful, and take absolute ownership of your outcomes. You don't wait for leads; you create them.
- An exceptional storyteller and communicator, capable of articulating a complex value proposition with clarity and passion to technical and executive audiences alike.
- A master of the strategic sales process, with deep experience in consultative selling, negotiating complex contracts, and navigating competitive landscapes.
- Data-obsessed, using metrics and CRM data to diagnose problems, identify opportunities, and accurately forecast.
- A natural leader and mentor, even without a formal team initially, with the presence and credibility to inspire confidence internally and externally.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in business development and strategic sales, with a significant portion in a leadership or player-coach capacity.
- Demonstrable experience building a sales pipeline from scratch and scaling a sales process within a high-growth company.
- Expertise in managing a full, complex sales cycle (3-9 months), with an average deal size in the high-six to seven figures.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA is a strong plus.
