Designation- Head-Actuary  JOB ROLE  The Head Actuary is a seasoned professional and drives forward work and initiatives in the area of responsibility, sets and manages priorities, oversees and develops actuarial approaches.   This includes:   - Managing of the local Actuarial team.   - Supporting and consulting the Board of directors  - Overseeing proper execution of analyses and reporting processes   - Providing actuarial support to regional management and business units in reserving, planning, business performance assessment and cycle management  - Explaining loss reserve estimations and business plan input to local top management and business units  - Ensuring consistent assumptions within global Finance and Actuarial teams.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  - Keep abreast of leading market practice and drive innovation.   - Promote close collaboration and interaction with the various business areas to foster mutual understanding how business developments impact actuarial drivers in the financials.  - Manage & drive forward own area of responsibility or project.   - Peer review work from other team members and mentor, provide guidance to junior team members  - Develop actuarial approaches and processes as well as enhance actuarial models and analyses.  - Act as actuarial ambassador outside of the department  KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE  - Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Mathematics, Statistics or other appropriate discipline or qualified by experience in related discipline.  - Qualified Actuary   - Significant post qualification business experience (7-15 years), preferably spanning multiple actuarial areas as well as multiple types and lines of business.  - Proven experience in senior level communication.   - 7-15 years of experience in successfully driving large assignments. Preference to individuals who have passed the SA3 examination across India   - Proven experience in domestic working environment.   - Expert level job specific knowledge with regards to market dynamics, standard concepts and approaches, regulations / compliance standards, reporting requirements (e.g. reinsurance and underwriting knowledge, reserving techniques, data flows, etc).  - Expert level Finance and Insurance know-how as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal vs management view) allowing for cross-departmental thinking and acting  - Advanced quantitative financial and risk modeling know-how and skills   - Expert at navigating complexity: Proactively and quickly making sense of complex issues; responding effectively to complex and ambiguous situations in global matrix scenarios by identifying and initiating appropriate actions for remediation and follow through on actions. Ability to anticipate and resolve issues before they transpire.  - Advanced Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing).  - Advanced ability to positively influence others' actions, decisions, opinions or thinking resulting in positive outcomes. Ability to persuade and motivate others without direct authority.  - Advanced ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to re-mediate issues that can be abstract / ambiguous and follow through on their remediation.
