Description:
The Area Collections Manager is responsible for driving bucket collections, write-off recoveries, field operations, and portfolio health across the assigned geography. The role involves leading a team of Collection Associates and Officers, ensuring adherence to process norms, and delivering targeted collection performance in line with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive bucket-wise collection efficiency and ensure timely recoveries across the lending portfolio.
- Lead write-off (W-Off) recovery efforts and implement strategies to maximize resolutions.
- Maintain a strong focus on non-starters, tracking field visits and ensuring daily follow-ups with delinquent customers.
- Monitor and ensure zero delay in the deposition and reconciliation of collected payments.
- Manage and mentor a team of Collection Associates and Collection Officers, ensuring high productivity levels.
- Ensure adequate manpower deployment in line with CAPE norms for complete portfolio coverage.
- Review field activities, feedback, and trails updated by the team through the Mobile App; ensure 100% usage compliance.
- Identify high-risk and chronic delinquency cases; recommend timely legal actions for critical accounts.
- Ensure strict adherence to collection governance standards, SOPs, and audit guidelines.
- Maintain a healthy portfolio by proactively identifying risk patterns and implementing corrective measures.
- Drive effective cost management across the collections function.
- Follow process-driven collection practices and ensure smooth coordination with internal stakeholders such as Operations, Risk, and Legal teams.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 8-10 years of proven experience in secured/unsecured lending collections, field recoveries, and team handling.
- Strong understanding of retail loan products, delinquency trends, and recovery processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and people management skills.
- High level of ownership, decision-making ability, and problem-solving approach.
