JOB DESCRIPTION - BUSINESS HEAD (Mobile Retail Chain, 600+ Stores, 6 States)
Designation : Business Head / National Head - Retail
Reporting To : CEO / Promoter Group
Location : HO + Extensive Travel Across 6 States
Team Span : 6 State Heads, 20-30 Cluster Managers, 600+ Store Managers, 3,000-5,000 Retail Staff
1. Role Purpose (Concise Summary) :
The Business Head will lead the P&L, growth, operations, and brand strategy for a 600+ store mobile phone retail chain across 6 states. The role demands a strategic, data-driven, and execution-strong leader who can scale revenue, improve store productivity, strengthen OEM partnerships, and build a high-performance retail organisation.
2. Key Responsibilities :
A. P&L Ownership & Business Growth :
- Own full P&L, revenue, EBITDA, and cashflow targets for all 600+ stores.
- Drive same-store growth, new store productivity, and category expansion (mobiles, accessories, wearables, services).
- Build and execute annual operating plans (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and state-wise business strategies.
- Optimize store-level unit economics, cost structures, and inventory turns.
B. Retail Operations Excellence :
- Ensure SOP compliance, store hygiene, VM standards, and customer experience benchmarks across all states.
- Implement store performance dashboards, KPIs, and daily/weekly review mechanisms.
- Drive conversion, ATV, ASP, attach rates, and premiumisation across stores.
- Lead store expansion strategy: new store openings, relocations, closures, and format optimization.
C. Sales Leadership & Channel Performance :
- Build and manage a high-performing sales organisation across 6 states.
- Strengthen sales processes, incentive structures, and productivity metrics.
- Drive festive season strategy, OEM-led campaigns, and state-wise sales activations.
- Ensure strong performance in postpaid, EMI finance, insurance, extended warranty, and other value-added services.
D. OEM & Partner Management
- Manage strategic relationships with Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, and other OEMs.
- Negotiate quarterly business plans (QBP), margins, schemes, MDF, and exclusive partnerships.
- Ensure timely procurement, allocation, and sell-through of high-demand models.
- Collaborate with finance partners (Bajaj, HDB, IDFC, HDFC, etc.) to drive consumer finance penetration.
E. Supply Chain, Inventory & Merchandising :
- Oversee demand planning, forecasting, and inventory health across 600+ stores.
- Reduce aging inventory, dead stock, and improve stock rotation.
- Strengthen logistics efficiency, warehouse operations, and last-mile fulfilment.
- Implement merchandising strategy, planograms, and in-store brand visibility.
F. Digital Transformation & Omnichannel :
- Lead digital retail initiatives: CRM, loyalty, e-commerce integration, and store automation.
- Build omnichannel capabilities (click & collect, endless aisle, hyperlocal delivery).
- Use analytics to drive customer segmentation, repeat purchase, and lifetime value.
G. People Leadership & Culture Building :
- Lead a workforce of 3,000-5,000 employees through structured HR processes.
- Build a culture of performance, discipline, customer obsession, and accountability.
- Strengthen training academies, product knowledge programs, and leadership pipelines.
- Reduce attrition and improve store manager capability.
