Role - Manager, Finance & Accounting
The role is responsible for leading end- to- end finance delivery for multiple clients of the company. The role requires deep hands- on technical capability, strong judgement, and the ability to design, operate, and stabilise finance processes in complex and rapidly changing environments, while overseeing a team and dealing with Indian and overseas stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and ongoing compliance
- Act as primary finance lead for multiple client engagements, covering ongoing managed services.
- Own end-to-end Record to Report processes, including monthly close and reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
- Apply strong working knowledge of Indian GAAP and Ind AS, including researching and resolving complex accounting matters.
- Manage GST compliance and advisory, including return filings, reconciliations, and handling notices.
- Address direct tax considerations in collaboration with tax advisors, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment.
- Review client contracts from an accounting perspective, including revenue recognition, cost treatment, and indirect tax implications.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations, including ageing management.
- Ensure appropriate approval matrices, segregation of duties, and internal controls are designed and followed.
New client onboarding
- Participate in new client setup from a finance perspective, including:
- Chart of accounts design
- Finance policies and processes
- Payroll and reimbursement processes
- Cost tracking frameworks
- Reporting structures
- Design and document finance policies and standard operating procedures.
- Build checks and balances into systems and processes to reduce dependency on individuals.
Year-end functions
- Oversee preparation of annual financial statements under applicable standards.
- Handle coordination of statutory, tax, internal, and other external audits.
- Respond to audit queries in a clear and defensible manner.
- Address queries from investors, lenders, and other external stakeholders during year end cycles.
MIS and reporting
- Prepare and review MIS as part of monthly reporting.
- Support segment reporting and management accounting requirements, including cost allocation frameworks.
- Stabilise cash flow reporting and working capital visibility.
- Ensure reporting outputs meet both statutory and management requirements.
- Create MIS templates and analysis dashboard formats.
- Consolidated reporting across group entities, where needed.
Short projects
- Drive ERP selection support and ERP migration or implementation projects.
- Identify process gaps and recommend pragmatic improvements.
- Execute short, problem driven finance projects alongside ongoing client delivery.
- Participate in Business Process Review & Reengineering projects for clients and also in Process and Risk Mapping assignments, where needed
- Document process flows, policies and procedures in standard finance manual templates
Team leadership and review discipline
- Lead, train, and review the work of analysts and senior executives across engagements.
- Develop team members' technical depth, judgement, and client handling capability.
- Establish clear review protocols and escalation mechanisms.
- Foster a culture of accountability, documentation discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Undertake training sessions and knowledge initiatives
Client management
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring timely and professional communication.
- Be accessible and responsive to client queries, with the ability to address matters confidently within the scope of engagement.
- Keep the reporting manager regularly informed on client interactions, key developments, risks, and overall client sentiment.
- Ensure client deliverables and accounts are consistently up to date, accurate, and aligned with agreed timelines.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, with success measured through client satisfaction, clarity of communication, and minimal escalations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong technical skills with experience in controllership tracks, financial reporting, consolidated audits, and management accounting (costing, segment reporting).
- Deep familiarity with GAAP environments, complex finance processes and controllership workflows
- Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of interacting with senior management and overseas stakeholders
- Highly organised, technology-savvy, and experienced in team and project management (minimum 4 years background as a team manager)
