
Investment Research Analyst (PhD)
Location - Bangalore, WFO only
We are seeking an Investment Research Analyst to support research and deep-dive analysis on global companies.
A significant portion of the work involves meticulously producing long-form reports of very high quality and reliability. The role also involves meticulously reviewing and testing research outputs generated by analytical tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Report Writing:
- Conduct in-depth research on global companies, industries, sectors, and market themes.
- Analyse financial statements, business models, industry structure, competitive position, and key risks.
- Produce long form research reports, industry studies, company analyses, and thematic research.
- Develop clear conclusions that are well supported by primary and secondary research.
Research Validation & Testing:
- Review, test, and annotate tool-generated research reports.
- Assess outputs for factual accuracy, completeness, quality of reasoning, and consistency.
- Identify analytical gaps, unsupported conclusions, and source attribution issues.
- Provide structured feedback to improve research quality and reporting standards.
Education:
- PhD candidates and PhD holders in Finance, Economics, or related disciplines will be strongly preferred.
- Exceptional Master's degree candidates with a demonstrated record of rigorous research and high quality writing will also be considered.
- Prior qualifications in Finance or Accounting, including CA and CFA, would be a significant advantage.
Skills & Aptitude:
- Outstanding written English.
- Strong analytical ability and sound judgement.
- Ability to evaluate evidence critically and develop well supported conclusions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to engage deeply with complex topics.
Experience:
- Mandatory for all applicants - Demonstrated experience conducting independent research and producing high-quality long form written work (such as research papers, dissertations, policy papers, investment reports, or other substantive analytical publications), either as part of recent academic course or through recent work experience.
- Experience in investment research, equity research, economic research, consulting, academia, or similar analytical roles would be an added advantage.
- Exposure to global markets and international stakeholders would be very beneficial.
