Job Title: Underwriter - US Mortgage Industry

Location: Gandhinagar, Gujarat | Remote Option Available

Experience: 3-5+ years in US Mortgage Industry, with minimum 3 years in core Underwriting

About the Role : We are seeking a skilled Underwriter with strong expertise in the US mortgage industry to join our team on a night/US shift schedule.

The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of the full mortgage life cycle and extensive knowledge of agency guidelines including FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, and Jumbo loans.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct live and post-close underwriting and quality checks in line with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and investor guidelines.

- Review borrower profiles: credit, income, assets, collateral, and compliance.

- Analyze income documentation, credit reports, and asset verification to assess loan risks.

- Evaluate property acceptability through Title and Appraisal reports

- Identify compliance issues and derogatory accounts to ensure regulatory adherence

- Provide loan approval, suspension, or denial recommendations

- Maintain detailed reports and support junior team members through training

Qualifications

- Graduate /MBA in any discipline

- 3-5+ years mortgage industry experience with minimum 3 years underwriting

- In-depth knowledge of the 4 Cs of underwriting

- Proficient with mortgage software like Encompass, Empower (preferred)

- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

- Familiarity with MS Office and Outlook

- Willingness to work night/US shifts
