About Company:
The company operates in the professional services industry, providing specialized solutions and advisory support to a diverse range of clients.
Job Description:
Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to own end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R), statutory reporting, and audit management for our UK group entities, working remotely from India.
The role carries full accountability for the monthly and annual book close, preparation of UK GAAP financial statements, group consolidation, and management of the external audit through to sign-off.
This is a hands-on controllership role, not a review-only position - the successful candidate will both execute and control.
Key Responsibilities:
Record-to-Report & Close:
- Own the month-end and year-end close calendar across UK group entities; drive close to a defined timetable (target: WD5 or better)
- Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed asset registers, and intercompany eliminations
- Perform and sign off balance sheet reconciliations; maintain a clean, fully substantiated balance sheet with ageing of open items
- Prepare monthly management accounts with variance/flux commentary against budget and prior period
- Manage intercompany accounting, recharges, and settlement across the group
Statutory Reporting & Consolidation:
- Prepare annual statutory financial statements under UK GAAP
- Prepare group consolidation, including elimination entries, minority interests, and consolidation adjustments
- Manage Companies House filings and iXBRL tagging requirements
- Maintain accounting policy documentation and technical position papers for judgemental areas (revenue recognition, leases, deferred tax, going concern)
Audit Management:
- Act as primary point of contact for UK statutory auditors; own the PBC (prepared-by-client) list end to end
- Prepare audit-ready supporting schedules and respond to audit queries with minimal escalation
- Drive the audit to timetable; manage findings through to resolution and closure of management letter points
UK Tax:
- Prepare/support corporation tax computations and liaise with tax advisors on CT600 filings
- Own VAT compliance - quarterly VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD), partial exemption where relevant, and HMRC correspondence
- Maintain deferred tax workings and tax provisions in the statutory accounts
- Support PAYE Settlement Agreements, P11D coordination, and other HMRC compliance touchpoints as needed
Controls & Process:
- Maintain and improve the R2R control environment - documented processes, segregation of duties, and review evidence
- Identify automation and standardisation opportunities across close and reporting
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified accountant - CA (ICAI), ACCA, or CPA; ACCA with UK stream exposure preferred
- 8 - 12 years' post-qualification experience, with minimum 4 - 5 years hands-on UK GAAP (FRS 102) experience - preparing, not just auditing, UK statutory accounts
- Demonstrable experience managing UK statutory audits from the client side (or Big 4 / mid-tier UK audit background transitioning to controllership)
- Working knowledge of UK corporation tax and VAT/MTD compliance
- Group consolidation experience (multi-entity, ideally multi-currency)
- Strong ERP exposure (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, Xero, SAP, or Dynamics) and advanced Excel
- Prior experience supporting UK/US/European clients remotely from India strongly preferred
Attributes:
- Able to work autonomously across time zones with high ownership and minimal supervision
- Clear written communication - comfortable dealing directly with UK auditors, tax advisors, and senior stakeholders
- Deadline-driven with a controls mindset
