
Description:
The Group CIO will serve as the strategic technology leader for a diversified retail and e commerce group. This role is responsible for driving end-to-end digital transformation, strengthening core enterprise systems, and enabling scalable, data-driven growth across all business units. The ideal candidate combines deep retail technology expertise with proven leadership in high-growth, multi-country environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technology Strategy & Leadership:
- Define and execute the group-wide technology vision aligned with business goals.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives across retail, e-commerce, supply chain, and corporate
functions.
- Build a robust IT governance framework ensuring security, compliance, and high availability.
- Partner with CXOs and business heads to shape long-term technology roadmaps.
2. Enterprise Systems & Core Platforms:
- Oversee implementation and optimisation of ERP, WMS, OMS, POS, and related retail systems.
- Ensure seamless integration of omnichannel platforms, customer apps, loyalty systems, and marketplace integrations.
- Drive modernisation through cloud, microservices, APIs, and automation.
3. Supply Chain & Retail IT Excellence:
- Strengthen supply chain technologies to improve forecasting, inventory accuracy, fulfilment and last-mile efficiency.
- Support store operations with reliable POS platforms, mobility solutions, and in-store digital experiences.
- Implement advanced e-commerce technologies to improve conversion, personalisation, and operational efficiency.
4. Data, Analytics & Cybersecurity:
- Build enterprise-wide data architecture enabling real-time insights and decision-making.
- Champion AI/ML use cases in demand planning, pricing, fraud detection, and customer experience.
- Lead cybersecurity strategy to protect customer data, digital assets, and IT infrastructure.
5. Team & Vendor Management:
- Lead a multi-country IT organisation, nurturing high-performing teams.
- Manage strategic vendor partnerships, negotiate contracts, and ensure delivery excellence.
- Oversee IT budgets, CapEx/OpEx planning, and cost optimisation.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 20-27 years of total experience, with at least 5-8 years in CIO / Group CIO / senior IT leadership roles.
- Strong background in large retail and/or e-commerce organisationspreferably multi-country or multi-brand.
- Proven expertise in supply chain IT, ERP (SAP/Oracle/Dynamics), WMS, OMS, POS, and modern
e-commerce stacks.
- Demonstrated success in driving complex digital transformations across multiple business units.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
