
Proposed Role: Manager - Cost Accounting and Control
Experience: 10-15 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing companies Only.
Location: Factory-based role - Patancheru.
Preference: Immediate Joiners
Key Responsibilities and Job Description
1. Development of Costing System
- Design and implement a comprehensive costing framework for pharmaceutical manufacturing operations including formulations and APIs
- Map cost flows across procurement, production, and packaging processes
- Establish a structured costing system aligned with operational realities
2. Manufacturing Cost Analysis
- Understand manufacturing processes and cost dynamics across production stages
- Analyze material consumption, yields, process losses, and batch efficiencies
- Conduct product and batch level cost analysis
3. Yield and Process Efficiency Monitoring
- Study production yields and wastages
- Track process efficiency and recovery ratios
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization
4. Cost Records and Documentation
- Maintain cost ledgers and statutory cost records
- Prepare cost sheets, cost statements, and cost reports
- Maintain documentation in accordance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
5. Cost Audit Preparation
- Prepare records required for statutory cost audits
- Ensure readiness of cost documentation for audit and compliance
- Coordinate with cost auditors where required
6. Financial Planning & Analysis
- Provide cost inputs for budgeting and financial planning
- Product profitability analysis and margin evaluation
- Work with finance leadership to build cost intelligence for decision making
7. KPI Development
Develop and monitor key performance indicators such as:
- Cost per batch / cost per unit
- Yield efficiency
- Material utilization
- Production cost trends
- Process variance analysis
8. Variance and Responsibility Accounting
- Establish systems for material, labor, and overhead variance analysis
- Support implementation of responsibility accounting across production functions
Qualifications:
- Qualified Cost & Management Accountant (CMA)
- 10-15 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing organizations
- Experience in manufacturing costing systems and cost sheets
- Working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and cost audit requirements
- Exposure to FP&A, budgeting, and cost control frameworks
- Strong ability to translate operational data into financial insights
