Description:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tax Oversight & Review:

- Overall review and supervision of direct tax compliances for corporate and non-corporate clients

Technical review of:

- Income-tax positions and computations

- Tax audit reports and certifications

- Non-resident tax matters, including DTAA interpretation and cross-border transactions

- Providing guidance on complex tax positions and risk assessment

- Finalisation and sign-off support for key deliverables

2. Tax Litigation & Representation:

Independent handling and supervision of:

- Assessment and reassessment proceedings

- Penalty and stay proceedings

- Drafting and reviewing technical submissions, opinions, and paper books

Representing and coordinating matters before:

- Income-tax Authorities

- Appellate Authorities

- Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP)

- Regular liaison and interaction with tax department officials

- Strategic planning of litigation matters in consultation with partners

3. Tax Advisory & Consulting:

Leading tax advisory engagements for:

- Domestic taxation

- International taxation

- FEMA-related matters

Advisory for NRI / RNOR clients, including:

- Residential status determination

- Structuring and tax-efficient planning

Providing high-level advisory support to:

- Corporates

- High-net-worth individuals

- Banks and financial institutions

Preparation and review of:

- Tax opinions

- Advisory notes

- Tax status and exposure reports

- Coordinating with other internal departments for multidisciplinary advisory

4. Client Management & Business Development:

- Acting as a primary point of contact for key clients

- Participating in client meetings, discussions, and presentations

Assisting partners in:


- Expanding client relationships

- Identifying new advisory opportunities

- Supporting proposal preparation and technical presentations

5. Team Leadership & Practice Management:

Leading and mentoring a team of:

- Chartered Accountants

- Tax executives

- Article assistants

- Reviewing work output and ensuring quality and timelines

- Conducting internal technical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions

- Developing and improving tax processes, systems, and controls

- Keeping the team updated on legislative and judicial developments

Professional Development & Knowledge Leadership:

Continuous monitoring of changes in:

- Income-tax Act

- Judicial precedents

- International tax developments

Participation in:

- Seminars, conferences, and professional forums

- Internal technical initiatives and study circles

- Contribution to internal tax updates, notes, and best-practice documents
